Sure, but the whole "RICHIE DOES NOT WANT TO BE THERE HE DISRESPECTED THE BAND" schtick some people here love to run down won't fly if he missed the show unvoluntarily and got his ass kicked afterwards.

Well it depends how you define voluntarily and what happened to miss that first show but yeah it would change the narrative big time.

It doesn't add up why he would throw his daughter into the mix and specifically spend more time with her. I feel like it put a lot of pressure when "Spending time with family" would have worked as well.

I remember Jon saying at a press conference, when they was asked about Richie, something like, that it is not the time to hate your brother and not go on tour because you is angry, and that you have to move the ass to the tour.

“You have a choice — you either figure it out, go and grow, not only survive but thrive. Or, you say, ‘I hate my brother and I’m gonna quit the band.’ ”

I think that last sentence seems to be about Richie, as has been said before, there were tensions between the two before Richie left the band. Even, one day before the Calgary concert, Richie was on vacation with his daughter, I do not think he was drunk with his daughter, and that's why he decided not to go, it does not make sense.

This. It's different from suffer an accident or something like. If it was because drugs or whatever other substance, it would not be the first or second time.

And if it was really the situation, it certainly would be leaked by Richie or someone from his camp. It's a missed oportunity to be the victim, have fans support and show the Evil Jon for the world.

In my opinion, on a drunken day, he decided that should spend more time with his daughter and that's it. (I bet in a drunken day because you don't leave a tour in the middle in a normal day).

As I said before, I don't have angry from Richie anymore. I just love his work in this 35 years and want him feel himself the best he can.

Some may remember I posted something I'd heard when news first broke back in 2013. I removed the information on the advice of others at the time.
And sorry if I was rude or something like this with you, was not my intention. It's just because it's not the first time someone came here, throw up some words without any prove and just go away. At least you didn't go away (yet). hahahaha

PS.: sorry for the completely OFF TOPIC.

Reasonably acceptable smokescreen, to avoid discussing band issues 'out of school'? At the time Ava was his only "family" other than his mom who was across the country. That said, I believe that in some of the interviews he actually did change it up by saying he needed to spend more time with his family, but that's just going from memory. Six of one, half dozen of the other, imo.

@rolo: IIRC, Jon was responding to a reporter about Richie's 'personal issues' when he said, "you survive, thrive, and go on; or you say, 'I hate my brother and I'm quitting the band'..."

Some say it was Richie who drank too much one day and decided to quit. You don't leave your wife of 30 years just because you wake up one day and say that you don't love her anymore. It's a process and you could see it coming for years BEFORE it finally happened. Besides, who knows how many attempts were made on both sides before it was clear it was actually leading nowhere? It's surely messy and complicated and trying to simplify things so it'd fit nicely some rock and roll stereotypes because all those rock bands are falling apart is a blind alley. I'm willing to believe it was not about money but "there was no fight" seems so off I can smell it from here

Technically there was no 'fight'. Richie fell off the wagon but had every intention of coming back .. sharpish I believe. Jon, angered at being left high and dry, stopped that from happening.

I'm sure tensions were present beforehand, which would only have exasperated the problem of course.

Before you know it an entire leg has passed with no direct communication and lines are drawn.

Well, to be honest it seemed that way... that it was kinda temporary... like Richie wrote in one of his solo songs at that time "So I ain't quitting I'm just splitting for awhile." I know it can be intepreted in many ways but the vibe was that it was actually pretty serious but not final... *sigh*

How has the NEW MUSIC thread turned into the Still Going in Circles About Richie Five Years Later thread?

But that was written over a year before he left. I think this is more referring to the time he took some time out from the band to go into Rehab previously...
