I don't know but I have found that I just don't care anymore. If Richie doesn't want to be with the band - he shouldn't be. I do miss his voice on occasion though. However, to be honest, this isn't the first band that has lost a member and continued on and it won't be the last.

I get tired of it taking over every thread. The people who won’t move on don’t want those of us who enjoy the band to be able to enjoy the band as it is.

There is no music to be discussed and there most likely won't be for quite some time. And most users seem to be more affected by his departure than you and subsequently want to talk about it. And the last few pages were actually some of the most interesting in quite some time here.

Actually, iirc, it was leaked; but it was from Jon's side, not Richie's.

I'm pretty sure that it was "sources" supposedly connected with BJ who told one of the rags (Daily Mail, I think) that Jon had fired Richie because of his drinking; but when they contacted BJM somebody there denied it. There was another rumor around the same time that Dot had wanted Richie fired because he was partying too hard on tour, but almost everybody wrote that off because the idea of Dot telling Jon how to manage the band is just too far-fetched.

Eh, the current discussion was about precisely that - if it's really down to Richie not wanting to be in the band, or if he was in fact fired.

But does it have to be discussed in every other thread? Richie has moved on. A lot of fans have moved on (based solely on the last 3 shows I attended). Like Kathleen said, Bon Jovi isn’t the first band to have a change in lineup and they won’t be the last. I’m just grateful the change is not because somebody dropped dead. Fans of Tom Petty, Prince, George Michael, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Linkin Park, Soundgarden, the Beasties Boys, and so many others will never be able to see their favorite artist or band as they were again.

Richie is happy with RSO. Let him do his own thing that brings him happiness.

The Bon Jovi band as it is now certainly appear happy too.

This is entertainment. It’s not like your parents got divorced or your mom died or your house burned to the ground or you got cancer. Try finding joy where you can because most things in life pretty much suck.

If the guys were 100% honest with us as to why the band REALLY split like it did, then we wouldn't have those ongoing discussions. With many others it was clear. Somebody was a junkie, the other got too little money and another one just got out of the showbiz. Nobody's buying "the family matters" here because Ava wasn't a kid anymore and he'd been out on the road so often before when she needed him even more. The drinking problem? I don't think Richie ever looked healthier than in 2012/2013, recording his solo stuff and sounding very coherent in the interviews. His joy was palpable. Yet, he expressed his desire to have more freedom than he had in Bon Jovi and couldn't wait to tour TAOTL. WAN was rushed and, if I heard correctly, Jon'd promised the guys to have a longer break in between touring but clearly forgot about it the very next day; that football team was so heavy on his mind he couldn't help it. Richie didn't turn out at the rehearsal in January so before the tour even started. In December the tension was so obvious between the two that those forced smiles looked more like grimaces. They had it coming for sure. Too bad they won't tell us and just keep us in the dark. How can we move on if they only pretend to have done so anyway? It's enough to read the lyrics to their songs they're sending to each other back and forth. There's still so much unresolved stuff it's insane. The situation is certainly not normal or settled. If we can't talk about it here on the fan board, then dunno what's other place for such discussions? It isn't less annoying than the constant complaining about Jon's poor vocal delivery/static behaviour on stage, sounding like a broken record in itself

You are not going to get a definitive answer. Even if you got one party’s definitive take on the situation, everyone else would have a different viewpoint.

It’s the equivalent of banging your head against a brick wall for five years thinking you’re going to knock it down.

Maybe if insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, it is also having the same conversation over and over and expecting a different outcome/resolution.
