Re-releasing something to capitalize on something (a tour, an accolade) is pretty common. It breathes second life into the promotion. I think it's a cash-in and I'm not sure people will re-buy the album but if it gets more people to give it a chance and they actually give a damn and promote it this time around I'm for it. I don't like it but I get it.

Don't start this one with with me again RD, we've had this conversation, I buy everything, I'm a collector and want to have my collection complete.. Doesn't mean that I'm happy I have to buy the same thing again. I'd rather buy something new hence the comments about the EP

Stop making presumptions that you know what we do or don't do. I literally have 100s of Bon Jovi CDs and that doesn't even take into account Vinyl, cassettes, Videos, DVDs. I have multiple copies of every album, single, imports, etc, etc

I brought the recent Vinyl box set when I could find it at a decent price. Did you?

Happy to discuss the band all day long, but you don't know anything about me RD, so don't act like you do...

(BTW, since I'm one who "complained", I guess you must have overlooked the part where I said that I had already purchased the album three times, right?)
It always comes out within other posts over time... Pay more attention...

It used to be, so it's not so much common practice these days. The era of the digital downloads has kind of done away with that and the endless greatest hits albums because people can just download what they want, when they want. Re-releasing an album in this day an age seems pointless, as people that aren't collectors will just download the new tracks on iTunes. The only thing it really does is to gets the fans like us that have already brought it to buy it again, as we surely will. It's not gong to appeal to anyone new unless by some miracle on of the new songs is a hit...

No RD, you are the one that needs to pay more attention... as I said, we've had this conversation before and you were wrong last time too...

Right, which is the goal. To have a new song to promote, get the people who are hearing Bon Jovi's name over and over and over again in the press because of the hall of fame entrance to realize they put out an album and here it is again with some new stuff. The timing completely lines up with that. If it were just to take advantage of the few fans that actually had it I don't think it'd be coming out the time they're getting more exposure.

Being a collector with a desire to be a completist is a choice. No person or band is forcing anyone to buy anything. I’m a person who wanted every CD, every single, every format of every release. At some point you realize some things are out of reach and you will never have a complete collection, so even wanting everything is futile and such knowledge can relieve any compulsive buying habits.

I, for instance, will never own the vinyl single for Santa Fe that was released in South America. It was selling for $1000 in the 90’s. If I had bought it then, I could probably sell it now and pay off my vehicle. Hindsight is 20/20.

I don't disagree with any of that Becky, but the band and label know full well that when the release something new their is a sizable fan base that will snap it up.

I should have said that I want me collection to be "as complete as possible". I know that there are certain things that are out of reach, the Santa Fe promo included...

Even with the Hall Of Fame thing the chances of the band getting a real hit song in 2018 are pretty slim....I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see anyone that isn't already a fan being interested in the re-release at all

What would have made the re-release more interesting would be if it came with a DVD with all the videos that made or a live show. It would be worth it then....but nobody really watches DVDs anymore as it's all on YouTube

It would be great if they released a 7” single with a new song on each side. But they won’t.
I’ve got THINFS on vinyl, Japanese import and got it on iTunes when it came out. I’m not buying it again. I’ll just buy the 2 new tracks off iTunes.

Re buying songs. I heard - not sure if it’s true - that Apple want to get rid of iTunes. You’ll no longer be able to buy songs/albums/films etc. They want you to join Apple Music.
