Or, however it gets configured. There will be more of a pay as you go for what you actually use model. And it will suck for people who use streaming services.
This has been reported, but Apple has strongly denied that this is happening, so at this point it's just rumours.

As I said, even if Apple stop offering downloads, there are plenty of other services that will continue to do so...

Amazon already does promote their music streaming service in place of album purchases. I'd hate to see the day where we are wholly dependent upon streaming. I've been a Spotify guy since it hit the U.S., but I always have considered it as a supplement to my existing owned library rather than a replacement for it due to the fact that good chunks of my personal library contain releases (other than bootlegs) that are not found on any streaming service.
Yeah, must as I heavily lean on streaming from Spotify these days, I don't like the fact you are at the mercy of them removing songs you like on a whim. I'll always prefer to own and back up to my Google library and offline, but can see that the tide is turning away from this eventually.

There was an article in, I think Forbes, about it. I heard an interview with the author a few days ago. I listen to music talk radio a lot.

Argh I get everything from iTunes... I'd be mightily pissed if it goes.

I strongly doubt that iTunes is going away. Too popular, millions download their music from there..

Anyway, I have to ask, what is the point of re-releasing the album, why not just release the two new songs together in an EP on said iTunes? I thought they were recording a whole new album anyway? Which leads me to another question, why are they touring THINFS when a new album is supposedly being released at the end of this year and a new tour to support that album next year? Sounds like they're gonna be awfully busy. Unless their plans have changed and a new album is shelved for now...

they dont have a new album ready. just the 2 songs are recorded mixed mastered. jon said he didnt have the material for an album so probably made 4-5 demos or more and decided to release the stronger 2.
i have a feeling the next album will be quite different because both shanks and phil x will be allowed to participate more since they play live etc, small changes for sure but perhaps some new ideas come up

He said a new album next year which could mean either they start working on it or it gets released. Either way it doesn't mean they're working on it now, just the writing process is slowly happening. Considering it could come out end of next year touring now isn't crazy at all. It's insane they waited this long from the album release date.

Most of the album & tour decisions / dates are driven from the record company. I don't know what type of deal he has now being that things are rapidly changing in the music world (plus Jon was dropped and added back) but Jon even stated in that recent podcast that he had to finish the 2013 tour due to record company commitments (something along those lines - along with 2015)... Jon might have to do X amount of shows during X amount of time...

The old model was:
Studio Album and Tour for a Year, then do nothing for two but release compilations annually until the cycle starts all over again...

Maybe the new model is: Instead of touring for a year, space out the shows over three...

Based on that theory, Jon will have to put an album out sometime in 2019 and will need to fit Europe into his touring schedule at some point...

It´s a strange title "This house is not for sale (When we were us)", in mode of wishful thinking it makes me consider of Richie´s participating on that track, and him being again part of the band by the time they´ll get inducted in RORHOF, but nahh,...who can think of that

Albumwise, I would say the band is in the two years´ of maximum gap, not due to them being noticeable again, but to the closeness of the end of the career as a group (although I don´t doubt Jon´s working on as far as his 70´s, the band is another story, at least the BAND as we should know it).
