Count me in. I think it's got Richie stamped all over it. ('Course, most ppl believe that I think everything's about Richie. Not true.)

As soon as I heard the snippet, I sent the lyrics to a friend and said, "Looks like somebody's still living with a ghost."

I LIKE this song. The intro's got a strong TWTWMM vibe, and that was one of my favorites from WAN. I love the way there seems to be a thread that runs through the lyrics that Jon and Richie write, together or on their own, or with others. These lyrics touch on a lot of previous songs. The title, if nothing else, brings up WWWB. The line "Love meant more than lust" recalls Reunion's "For some love comes disguised as lust; but you'll find love when you find trust one day." "Memories are nothing more than ghosts that we let in" and "Those days weren't meant to last forever" both touch on LWTG, which in turn, seemed to me like a response to Richie's 'Takin' a Chance on the Wind': "If time's taught me a lesson, it's don't dwell on the past. 'Cause the bad things fade and the good things are built to last."

I know there are some people who think the same phrases keep cropping up just because they're too lazy to think of new ways to say things; but I disagree. It's one of the things I absolutely love in 'Room at the End of the World'. I think it's cool the way each phrase hits on a different song. It's like a trip down memory lane through their catalogue.

Hate hate hate the guitars. They worked somehow in some THINFS songs but not here. And I don't feel the bridge at all which is weird, they always nail that part. The "Shanks sound" is so stale, damn it, it was too much to hope for a BB rawer sound again. Sigh.

Now some positive thoughts... Catchy as hell, heard the snippet first and not even the whole thing and the damn chorus got stuck in my head. The lyrics are average at best but there's passion and energy which makes them mean something. Or I'm getting old and easy to please.

I know I don't expect too much, but I expected much much worse. I always like to be proven wrong when it comes to the band (I don't think I'm going to like "Walls" though) and I was very sceptical about a single so soon and also dreading to hear what it was going to be BJ by-the-numbers again after the more lyrically meaningful THINFS.

So basically it's Ok, will grow on me for sure. Still on the average-post-2007-single side but miles better than WWBTF. Now I'm excited to hear it live with some real guitars and that horrible noise going on behind Jon's voice. Dreadful production as usual

Lyrics read like a letter to Richie.

Jon must be going through the 5 stages of grief.

1. Denial and isolation;
2. Anger;
3. Bargaining;
4. Depression;
5. Acceptance

This would definitely mark acceptance.
