I listened to it last night and thought it was alright. Catchy but nothing spectacular.

I then listened with headphones this morning and it proper got me. I love the lyrics and the delivery. First verse doesn't really flow but I think as the song goes on, it finds shape. Something about the last verse and chorus got me, though. Don't know what it was but it turned the song from alright to a very good song.

I love the rasp on Jon's vocals on the part most people have mentioned already.

I'll give it a few more listens when I can.

Listened to it again. It’s not a bad song but it feels like it’s missing something to me. (As with a lot of recent Jovi songs)

Weak, thoughtless solo. Boring bridge. Still maintain the ending needed to go higher.

The band need another pizza parlour jury. Not to pick songs, but to point out what’s missing from the songs. Or a producer that actually challenges the artist...

Am I the only one that after the "dont go looking for tomorrow, leaving yesterday behind" line started singing "Im on my way, driving at 90 down those country lanes"...?

That is the main problem with anything since 'The Circle' - ( a few exceptions apart) - it all sounds 'shankish' which comes down to radio friendly pop rock, a poor man's U2, guitar solos that are unworthy to be called solo's.

Furthermore, since Jon is singing in a lower key than during their hits-years ( 80 ies / 90 ies ) nothing will ever sound as powerfull anymore because it is just a simple fact that all major hits ( I am talking songs with big sing along choruses ) are always writen in high keys. Which is no more in Bon Jovi's capabilities.

So - what I would do if I were Jon : drop Shanks, get a producer who stands for real authentic sound. Stop producing 3 minute radio songs and get back to living breathing real heartfelt songs - don't mind about radio, but care about music fans ( existing and new ) who will embrace it.

People are ripping it up on the YouTube comments but I actually thought the overall performance sounded pretty good...I like the way Jon sings the verses now but there is just no upper range...
