if that's true, then either it's a Phil solo, but Shanks must have pretty much told him what to play and taken anything interesting out. Or, Shanks still took the solo anyway, which is idiotic.

He said he played, but we do not know what parts, maybe he did not do the solo but record some filler guitars.

BJ have released patchy album after patchy album since Crush - That aint gonna change anytime soon.

THINFS gets hardly any play from me. Its just dull. I knew WWWU would be in the same vein as the album they are being tagged onto.
The band have got a great guitarist in Phil X - Yet there's still no solos in the songs.

Ironically BB, the album JBJ didnt want to release, has some of the bands best work in years on it in Teardrop, We dont run, Sat night, Who would you die for and Im your man - they are better than anything on the last 3 or 4 albums.

I also really like I will drive you home - its different to the new standard Bon Jovi song.

The idea that Jon doing an acoustic album would suddenly mean he's capable of singing it is a myth. Just listen to the acoustic shows he does for those Fanclub trips. Destination Anywhere's the most dangerous song in the set and thus he can barely sing it right. He's flat, nasal and has to shout the words, hence the song choices being so safe and dull. Playing your songs on nothing but an acoustic showcases your vocal incapabilities a lot more than doing it with a band just so you can hide behind the wall of sound.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
Why is it shit? It's nice, well written music and lyrics. I mean, Jon is no Dylan, but it's honest and different. THINFS and so on is just the same old, just like WAN, TC,...Quick question: which do you find "shitter"? THINFS or Stand Up Guy songs? I think we'll find that many people's answer is Stand Up...that's why Jon stays on that never ending road.

Re doing an acoustic album, you don't seem to get what I'm saying... of course he can't sing Wanted and Prayer like in 1988, not even In These Arms like on the TD tour; what he CAN sing is the Stand Up Guy stuff, Scars, TLFR type versions and so on. So, that's what he should be doing. Voices change; if you don't change your music to suit your voice, you get 2018 Jon.

100% with you there, but once again, the fans gave no positive feedback about it...so Jon didn't follow up on any of those type of songs and went back to the same old "pop-rock junk"

Shanks' solos on Teardrop, WWYDF and Fingerprints are of a very high standard for example...but we prefer Living with the ghost talking about the structure, solo and production; can't knock the lyrics)

I hate Living with the ghost. The lyrics is well but no great, just that he talks about Richie. Its structure and sound is the same as What About Now.

A teardrop, WWYDF, Saturday, Fingersprints and WDR were refreshing, and better than almost all songs of THINFS album.

and also had that rock n roll called I'm Your Man, which although it was not innovative, at least it was fun, and it would have been great live.

No, nobody wants that, we just want them not to repeat themselves anymore. Jon has been using the same formula for several years, and fells tired. A little rock would not hurt him.

Brilliant!!! Let's get it rolling. We want rock, we want solos, we want something different!!!

Because the vast majority of feedback from WAN, THINFS when they came out and now WWWU is positive. I honestly think fans have a say in what bands do; they're on social networks, they read the fan forums,...

We may not rid Jon of Shanks, but Shanks can do some very interesting work, just look at BB

Careful there, mate. Those words are strangely familiar. It almost sounds as if you might think Jon and Shanks could be holding Phil X back.

Maybe we'll learn somewhere down the road that Phil X was lazy, or too focused on his other projects, or just not showing up. So Jon had no alternative other than to depend on Shanks to get the job done.

You gotta work with what you got, man. And you know, those damn guitarists can be SO unreliable.

In retrospect.
