What happened to Bon Jovi %&*^#? *sigh*
Ed Sheeran is the hottest artist in the world right now and if new Bon Jovi music was as good as Ed's, I'd be really happy. It isn't.

I think that the best way to see this is that there are only two songs released (as it happened with the GH 2010) and are only there to add new material.

I do not think they sound like Walls on the next album. One positive thing, Jon's voice sounds good in the studio, so there will be more albums.

I though you had better taste

I can't tell apart Ed Sheeran from Sam Smith, Shawn Mendes and all the others whose names I forget the second I stop listening to their songs. They are just too forgettable and similar. Same with many female artists.

I'd chose Imagine Dragons over Ed Sheeran every time.

Now, if only Jon tried to make good songs instead of regurgitating old and better ideas all the time... A rotten apple is rotten no matter how beautifully you try to wrap it

I think you're judging style over substance. I imagine in the 80s there were people who couldn't tell apart Bon Jovi from Poison, Motley Crue, Warrant or Winger, etc.

I'm not calling Sheeran an all time great (not yet), but he's a great talent and a quality songwriter, as evident by a long list of hits he wrote for other artists, not just himself. It's OK if his music isn't your cup of tea, but comparing him to Shawn Mendes is just offensive!

Ed is pure talent and his popularity is not about being cheap and sell-out with catchy tunes and shallow lyrics. The guy has something to say and he can sing for sure. Call me a fan!

Not a fan of Ed Sheeran at all, but I can't stop playing Axel Rudi Pell's version of I See Fire

Doesn't Jon see that his constant obsession with copying whoever is the latest trend, whether it's The Killers or Ed or Imagine Dragons or whoever, is one of the reason that Bon Jovi is not taken seriously by some.

U2 don't do that. Bruce never did that! You don't see any of the acts that will go down as all time legendary artists doing that. If he'd stick to his guns, no pun intended, and stayed true to the Bon Jovi sound he would have a lot more respect these days. I honestly don't know who he wants this band to be anymore....he's just constantly chasing hits. He needs to stop that and write from the heart more....when he does that's when he truly shines as a songwriter....

Did I just hurt your Ed Sheeran fanboy feelings?

I'm just taking the piss really. I don't have a strong opinion about him. There are some songs I totally dig (I absolutely love his collaboration with Eminem) and others that are nails on chalkboard to me. He does seem to be talented as a songwriter and performer but the fact that he's up Taylor's Swift ass makes him lose all the points with me. Not really, I just find his voice a lil bit annoying.

My complain about artists nowadays sounding too similar is still valid though. It's not the style as you said, I guess the production is too sterile and homogeneous to make the listening experience easy on the ears? That's my theory anyway, take any charts list and it's pretty linear within the diferent musical genres. Same with the radio, any top40 station will play safe music and by safe I don't mean lyrically but nothing too outrageous.

Of course there are a few unique artists but you know how this is. The imitators will pop everywhere until a new big artist/music cycle comes.

I've always listened to top40 radio and I could tell artists apart. And there was always only a couple popular genres really, so it should have been as linear as it is nowadays. But Michael Jackson didn't sound like Prince. Or Mariah Carey like Whitney Houston. And Mötley Crue didn't sound like Cinderella.
