This is the typical over produced "live your life" paint by numbers mush we all expected. It's quite clear now that Jon has completely dried up creatively.

We'll have a better idea once the album and all 17/18 songs are available. Living in hope there's some quality songs on it...

Just listened to the first time. And then again.

Pros:
- it's a bit of a risk production-wise. It feels like it picks off where WDR left off and where I expect(ed) this album to go and was really dissapointed with how the title track sounds.

Cons:
- Jon's vocal delivery. Even the Shanks studio magic is no longer tricking my ears
- once you hear the first 90 seconds, you already heard the song. no depth whatsoever.
- complete turd lyrically

Overall score - 5/10

I'll try this. Beer goggles for music.

And yeah, JBJ/Shanks.
Thanks! I didn't check ASCAP because I remember someone saying they disappeared from that database and none of the new songs was there. I know there's another database where the songs are but I can't remember.

Interestingly enough, some songs are on ASCAP, but only 4 from BB and also 4 from THINFS, including bonus tracks in both cases. Which could mean that almost all THINFS could be *new* tracks written and recorded post BB and possibly also after they returned to the label. I wonder if that's true what happened to the album that was almost finished and had so many songs that they could spare some for BB...

Also, seeing how many songs Jon wrote on his own for this record makes me both very excited and very nervous. That hasn't happened since KTF! Crush to HAND would be the closest. But that was a different era and a different Jon

Well, that was short. And nothing we've never ever heard before lol

But it's good to see Jon happy and back to being his charming self. He comes across as a miserable bastard 99% of the time on regular interviews and here he looks way more relaxed and natural. He should stick to this kind of thing. With the rest of the band next time, preferably.

It's kinda funny that Jon fails to see the irony in his words. He's too old to write about banging chicks on the backseat of a car, but not for juvenile lyrics about the worst clichés? I'm not talking about Knockout which I believe is supposed to be quite tongue-in-cheek, but of other *serious* songs with terrible lyrics from the last decade which weren't.

He has a little bit of a split personality going on, wanting to be remember as a serious songwriter and avoiding RnR clichés, but knowing that the regular fan loves that type of songs and they are really good are making them, when they want.

So... speculation time, what songs did Shanks *create* by himself before coming to the band? Jon said a couple in the last few of years, wanna bet Knockout is one of them?
