I guess it depends where you live. Legendary died a death at radio weeks ago here in the UK which is why they have moved on to Living Proof already. In the UK at least Legendary is not a well known song at all if you are not already a fan.
It's also staying power not just chart peak positions.

And it's NOT only just Bon Jovi fans checking out the new music. There are curious people out there. Rock fans, generational, or someone who caught a promo or even watched the documentary and just want to hear a new song or watch the video.

Sometimes, you are very tunnel visioned... Your logic would be, "only Bon Jovi fans watched him perform on the American Idol during the finale. Everyone else watched Taylor Swift on YouTube until he was done and then switched back over"

Come on man...

I'm not a Motley fan but i like some of their older music and sure, I'll check out the new songs to see how it is and pop a comment down. Or whoever. Artists I grew up with or some new rock bands.

Absolutely. Part of my job is analyzing numbers and figures and analytics etc etc, so I'm very numbers focussed, for better or worse.

Yeah I get that, and again I can only speak for the UK, but it really didn't break out outside of the fan base here. There may have been the odd casual listenter that thought "oh that's ok" or "that sucked" but that's really about it. So I do think Legendary's success or not is very region dependant this time. Unlike the It's My Life's and Livin' On A Prayer's which were worldwide.

I'm not saying that at all. Obvioulsy American Idol was great exposure in the US. Whether that translates into sales or streams is another matter. Just because he played the song on American Idol it doesn't make it a instant success. That exposure has to translate to sales or streams. Maybe it has, maybe it hasn't, I don't know....

Yeah but Motley have always been a rock band and always gone for that audience. Bon Jovi left the rock audience behind a long time ago and it will take a lot more than Legendary to bring them back in. Living Proof has much more chance of that.

But again, it's a casual listen, checking out a band needs to translate into streams and sales, I don't really think that Legendary is doing that as far as streams go.

As I said in another post, I do think that the album will do well. Certainly better than 2020. I'm just not convinced that Legendary is "Blowing up worldwide" like Jon claims...

Oh it absolutely isn't. Although, I suppose it comes down to what Jon's definition of a Bon Jovi single in 2024 blowing up is. He probably does mean proper old fashioned hit, which makes him wrong. But he isn't stating his criteria, so he may think what is happening in reality with the song is blowing up for him these days.

I dunno, he followed it with a comment about being able to compete with the "big names" still, so I think he still has this desperate need to remain contemporary that he's always had. Which is a shame. At this point in his career it really doesn't matter. He's never going to have another Prayer or It's My Life, but he doesn't need one.

Still I think it's impressive (for Jovi standarts) that Legendary is still holding up on charts.

Anything on 2020 sank within a week, on THINFS within less than a month, and here we are, by what? It's 3rd month?, and it's still out there.

In what way were 2020's songs/singles ignored on the following tour? They did 4 or 5 songs from it nightly.

True.

Limitless, Beautiful Drug, Do What You Can, American Reckoning, Let It Rain and Story of Love were played almost every night (not all of them, but at least 4).

Even Limitless and Let It Rain had a more elaborated version.
