I think the man should just retire. They made us happy for almost 40 years (I just wish I was born 15-20 years earlier to enjoy them in their prime!).

They could just release the rumored box set, with old and new tunes, a last single from it, perhaps one last show with Richie, recorded for the posterity, and call it a day.

Jon could keep writing for other singers, and Richie, David and Tico could keep making their own business. All of them could live their golden years as they like, not making something that they don’t even enjoy anymore.

I can still enjoy the new studio music, not at the same level of passion as the old days, but it's decent enough to still get me excited listening to new songs.

About the live performances, you know my opinion, the boy lost everything.

Maybe BJ should take a break after the 40th anniversary and Jon should release solo music with other musicians.

That's pretty much how I feel.

I feel the problem from Jon's side is ego-drive. Since his children have grown up, his acting career stalled and his NFL dream is dead and buried, Jon doesn't want anything else from life, other than being able to fill the stadiums/arenas and get this adrenaline rush and his own perception of being relevant.

I think what's really relevant is what's played the most. In my case it's the holy quaternity (SWW, NJ, KTF, TD), and some occasional songs from the post-2000 albums but certainly nothing past LH :]

I don’t get the disgruntlement here lol. The reality is none of the band is being forced to play or tour or write - they have more money than we can dream of so could stop if they want.

They enjoy it, the only question then is do we. It seems based on the comments here - you don’t, which is fair enough but raises other questions.

I’ve seen Bon jovi live, granted it was the bounce tour, it was incredible, even if they can’t still go like then I bet it’s still incredible. Heck the Stones are still going and I’d rather watch that than that Swift nonsense.

No need for them to retire. If Jon is going to be writing, he may as well write for himself and release music. It is becoming clear he is done as a live singer and needs to make that jump, but releasing new music is still do-able. Whether it is good or we like it is another matter. Besides, which artists want Jon Bon Jovi to write their songs for them?

I've been on these boards since just before Bounce was released and....you're not wrong. But on the same coin, the band was culturally relevant and the albums were still "selling" and they were getting radio play. We're a world away from those days.

People aren't being negative when they say his voice is far past the level of "done". Putting all personal feelings for the band aside, surely you agree with that, right?

His voice isn’t done in the sense he can do a live concert for several hours (I couldn’t do that!) and 99% would have an awesome time - that seems good enough to me.

And relevant, I’m not so sure, you might remember people saying the same thing after bounce, there has been three number 1 albums in the US since then. I think the next one will be interesting, let’s face it, burning bridges and 2020, neither of them had any mainstream appeal, let’s see what the target is next.

I would love a tour, I’m in the uk so we don’t get as many options, bounce was incredible, I personally would prefer Richie back in the band! Some indications that may be on the cards, that would be incredible but who knows. Richie is evidence if anyone doesn’t want to tour, they don’t have to, regardless if we like that or not.

I love your enthusiasm but what you're saying is covered in holes.

1) You're saying he can do a concert for a few hours which....they did 16 shows in 2022 on their last tour. It ended with a taped vocal version of Living on a Prayer and some shows far shorter than normal. They haven't had done over 50 shows in one year since 2013.

2) Number 1 albums are meaningless. They stopped going number 1 after they had to stop bundling an album with each ticket sold for the album sales tallys.

3) Richie is evidence if anyone doesn’t want to tour, they don’t have to, regardless if we like that or not? No, this is not the norm. You're comparing a time where 2013 had 110+ish shows booked. They are touring 1/5 that amount these days, it's way less time consuming, no back to back shows etc. Being in this band is far less of a time suck it once was.

I think you're right, a lot of people will stlll go and hear the hits and honestly have fun. But last tour was the first one his vocals were getting noticed and talked about far more extensively. Previously it was more our side that noticed and/or cared.
