It was a rush release in my opinion to maximise on the promotion for the 40th anniversary. I think that they should have waited for new material too and concerntrate on stuff like the box set and deluxe editions for the anniversary.
Yeah, I agree with this. I know you can make things sound 'better' in the studio but I do think the album could have waited until he was 'fully' recovered.

But, I'm not Jon. If that's what he wants to do, that's up to him. I'll still buy the album as will many of us.

This place doesn't get sour, it is sour. 25 years of varying degrees of disappointment makes people negative. If Bon Jovi was coming off years of high quality output, then the lack of faith would be wrong. As it stands, it is more realistic to take the negative view than the positive one.

It is not being overly critical to say Jon's voice sounds like it is still in recovery and to then speculate on how that would affect him singing and the overall quality of the album.

All valid points, for sure. But there's something to be said about the approach between "dude's voice is fried, should have given it a bit more time and "I'm assuming that at this point he's releasing anything just to go on tour and avoid being called a "nostalgia act" ya know?

And at the same time "25 years of varying degrees of disappointment makes people negative." If you've been dissapointed for 25 years, the horse can't be beaten to death any more. It's fully fine to admit "this isn't for me anymore". There's so little info about this album to write it off but I bet it's going to be the same people complaining until the next one and then "man, remember how good it was"?

But maybe it's just me! I want to go into this hoping for something.

Totally with you on that. I'm still hopeful. I really am.
I don't think the comment of maybe waiting was necessarily a bad one but I can see why you/people may take it that way.

I'm excited for what's to come.

No, you're wrong.

You assumed my argument was something I never said. And you're still insisting, even after Thierry and liljovi93 were faster and made it clear to you. They got it because my comment was pretty clear.

Me too, 100%. Relates to their/his relevance as well. Enjoy the year, focus on the nostalgia, let your voice heal, try something new afterwards. Music-wise show people the first 30 years this year, not the last 10 by releasing a new album that we assume we know will sound like. No problem with releasing a single though, but an album like the last two (again assuming), with your voice healing?? Why? It's all too close to what's gone on recently, give it some distance and make people want whatever might be next.

Of course it could be the very end, and last band album...so then I'm actually happy with that! Depends what happens in year 41 I guess.

It's not a matter of being right or wrong. It's perspective on a situation. I'm not insisting on anyything, I'm trying to understand.

For a guy whose voice is aboslutely dogcrap, he's in a no-win perpective. He takes a break, people go after him for pushing the wine, he records an album, he's not ready and he's doing it to gouge peple.

This isn't me accusing you of saying the above, it's....sometimes any little annoucement gets the joy sucked out of it and I'm struggling with that this early into the project.

I liked the perform of Legendary live and also the snippet of the song in the background as well, as i already said is how i thought it was and mostly i have good hope for the new album and what will come for this 40th anniversary.

i'm not thinking about Jon in tour in this moment, i just wanna hear new music and hear/see unreleased things...

Still I enjoyed the live peform of Legendary. Can't say much about the snippet, but it seems thats it will suffer the same mix problems as usual.

Anyway, it's Bon Jovi, can't judge a record by it's singles.

I may be getting old (well I had birthday yesterday, so technically I really am) but I am at a place when I am happy with stuff given to us.

Waiting for the single to drop is still exciting for me. I'll judge it when it's out but I'm ok with what I've heard so far. When was the last time the band released the best song as a single? When was the last time they got out something bold as a first single? It's always been the poppy/radio friendly stuff. Always. Ok, not always, This Ain't a Love Song is the exception. However, there wasn't a typical lead single on These Days even though they could have gone with Hey God the same way the had KTF. Maybe Make A Memory too. Otherwise it's always been quite calculated. I didn't like Because We Can and hated (still do) Limitless but this one sounds nice.

I know there isn't going to be one or two songs I don't like when I love the rest as on the older albums, actually it'll be two or three songs that get the rotation in my playlists and from time to time I'll listen to the album start to finish because I'm old school and albums matter to me. And I'm fine with that. There's tons of music to listen to and it's nice to have a Bon Jovi hype phase from time to time. I've been having one now since a Bounce show in December, fueled by the debut's album deluxe version, amazing Backstage stuff, explanation of Jon's issues and the new album.

Geez, I really am old
