Maybe he has the intention of coming up with new music but, regardless of his voice, he finds it hard to really get a topic he wants to write about.
Yep. David told him to stop writing about political things.

I think writing that "news reporter stuff" was an attempt to make a more current album, reflecting the things that happen nowadays, but he it's always a year late.

I hope that Jon has more imagination and that his source of inspiration is not only the newspaper.

Yeah I believe that was early 2021 - I think he said that he had already started/wanted to start writing (not sure which one it was) a song about the attack on the Capitol, but the band had told him enough with the newsreporter stuff, so he wanted to focus on writing about other things now. I think he also said around that time that the next record should be a big optimistic typical Bon Jovi record and I also remember him mentioning that he’d already started to work on some material and I think he also posted a picture where he seemed to be writing a song on his IG around that time.

I know it's hard for Jon because of the state of his voice, but in the studio he has no limits, so I'd like to hear some challenging songs, with claw.

I expect it has more to do with Jon's insecurities in his voice. Phil is a rocker and he's gonna come up with rock stuff that Jon's voice just can't do justice anymore...

everyone in the band knows by now about jon's vocal problems... phil could easily tailor the writing to jon's new standards

Phil is a professional when it comes to working with other musicians. He could tailor his work to whatever he was hired to do. I think it's more of Jon working the way he does with the people he does, I doubt Jon actively avoids Phil when writing songs but it maybe has more to do with him not being needed at that point in the process yet. Phil has been asked about the writing and his answer is always that the stuff he comes up with is too crazy for Bon Jovi, and then he goes and co-writes and records with Darius Rucker 😅😅....

What would be the point in that? If Phil isn't gonna write something that's like Phil would write, then he might as well just keep on writing with Shanks. I don't think Phil has any interesting in writting the next Limitless...in the same way that Jon doesn't want to do a real rock record.
