I don't get why people are calling the song political. Police brutality isn't exactly a political issue.

It’s more the album. But yeah there is a bit of political - to the far right.

He made the song decent by turning it into a punchy rock song, a lot like Undivided. This new shite is bordering on political (which will divide people) and it’s not even good musically

Exactly.

People might not have known the meaning behind the song but it was a great rock song. Same with Hey God or undivided.
Now its blatant and put accross so boring that no ones interested. The last few singles haven't dented the charts. No ones buying. If they want this thing done well they by Bruce or Dylan

Did you actually bother reading my post or did you just stupidly assume I was positively critiquing the song.

Or you’ve just missed my point completely

Remember that the USA are a point where punching nazis in video games is considered "shoving a political agenda down our throats".

I don't know why the response to this song has gotten me so worked up but we've been ranting for years for Jon to pick a side, write about a situation without worrying about alienating his fan base and be a rock start that stands his ground and now he's too specific and it's too political. The fan base is fragmented into what feels like hyper specific groups.

I don't love the song but good on him for not wrapping this in mystery.

I just don't understand what the implication is. A man died after being pinned down for 8 minutes. People are rioting and revolting because that's not right. I don't see that as politics, it's a human injustice.

He is right to write about it, but not everyone is logical and measured. And will turn it political. BLM came off the back of this in the UK and that certainly was political.

People sometimes want to turn to music to escape the political bullshit going on around the world and, for me personally, it’s not something I need to listen to again. I’m more than aware that George Floyd was brutally murdered

Yes I know, you’re right. But not everyone thinks like that. It’s a sad reality.
