Wrong, but thanks for playing. I also prefer Gary Moore over somebody like John Petrucci, and somebody like Richie Sambora over Yngwie Malmsteen. I don't give a shit about technical ecstasy, I want memorable leads.

This might also be why Phil works great on live stuff, because then he can fall back on these solos' memorable signature licks and fit them in between his gymnastics. Don't get me wrong, he is technically super solid, seems to be a great guy with superb energy and vibe, but as far as coming up with original solos goes, he is very mid 80s L.A. - something where Richie always separated BJ from the run of the mil bands.

As far as Blood in the Water goes, the solo is solid, but it's mostly just bluesy bends. The style is there, but it's not quite as inspired as BJ's best guitar work. You can hum the Always solo, you can hum the solo from I'd Die For You, you can EASILY sing along to Prayer's solo... but it fits the song for sure. It's a good solo, but not brilliant.
