Best song is debatable and never based on fact though. There are people here who think Born Again Tomorrow should have been a single and people here who think it would have ruined the band. I liked Water but think it would have made a poor single. There's just no way to pick a song that the fan base loves AND will attract new fans. I guess I just never got why people get mad at Jon for not picking songs they personally love.

The video has had 425K views. That odd bloke on Twitter, Jerry, is probably responsible for 400k of them!

Spotify doesn't have the play count on this or UnBroken so cannot see how many people have streamed it.

Bon Jovi and their fans (for the most part) are probably the last people who would know if a song is contemporary or would do well in the charts. Something that would do well in the charts would probably be hated by the fanbase. Although, if they wanted some sort of chart impact, they should at the very least have got it on to the new music friday playlist on Spotify and from what I could see they didn't. Bit pointless chasing fads and success when they don't do the legwork on the promo to back it up. Although its mainly for the album, so any sort of exposure helps (like with the Prince Harry stuff this week. Cringey made up text convo, but it got BJ some exposure and mention of new stuff)

Here's the sad part: At 2:40, let Phil shred a 30 second solo. Then go through the rest of the song and cut out 75% of the times Jon says Limitless and you have a passable song.

Things don't have to be as black and white, "art" and our reaction to it can be complex, irrational... and make perfect sense as well.

My gut reaction is that Limitless is poor, lazy and underwhelming for a single that will showcase an album and be played live (don't see how Jon will sing that one without collapsing though). That bridge should've never been recorded without at least a dozen reworkings, but it's not worse than others they've had (Love's the Only Rule I'm looking at you) just as the lyrics are not the worst they've ever written. Take Thorn in My Side for instance and record it now, fans would hate it and shred it to pieces for its lyrics. That song is nothing special on paper but it ended up being something else on the record and especially live. The harmonies and heavy guitars helped tremendously but it all fell on Jon's delivery. Jon can't afford to wing it now because he doesn't have the power and conviction anymore, but that's what he's doing and that's what's hurting the new songs the most.

So my emotional reaction is BURN THEM AT THE STAKE, give this song all the zeros that exist!!!1!! but my rational side knows that Limitless is far, far from their worst song and no different than most of their recent singles, it just lacks proper effort which is a major sin in my book

This is an astronomical catastrophy. "My" Bon Jovi has been gone for 10 years now, they will never return. Everyone involved with "writing" and recording this turd of a shit should be ashamed of themselves.
