I didn't want to listen to the album till September. But as the official single was sent for us I've pressed 'play' for this one. What I've heard I didn't really liked. I told before that it sounds like Sambora closed in a production shell. I was afraid that whole album's gonna sound like this. Yesterday I've decided to give a shot to whole album and...

THIS IS AMAZING!!!

This is Richie that we know.. Same beautiful melodies, lyrics, but some of guitar lines just blew me away.. You can easily hear Jimi Hendrix influence on couple tracks.

One of the best albums I've heard lately... And 'lately' means couple years

Really, I'm shocked... He did it once again...It sounds awesome and really, really fresh, but not in the way that kills what Sambora is... It's like... The new quallity...

ave RICHIE SAMBORA!!!

There is no impressive guitar playing on the album. It's all bland and very safe. The outro to Seven Years Gone might be different from your standard Bon Jovi but there's nothing impressive about it.

When people make claims like this for mediocre albums like this one I wonder what other stuff they actually listen to.

I'd say I listen to quite a varied selection of music and I'd put this as one of my favourite albums of the last few years. Of course, I can think of plenty more albums which perhaps have better lyrics, or more interesting musicianship, or an overall display of talent. But for pure enjoyment, this is right up there for me.

I don't mind new things, I'm open to new bands, I listen to any new band that's hip just to see what they've got to offer. I rarely become a fan of them but can appreciate for what they create just like I will never become a fan of Bruce Springsteen but still admire for what he does.

What Richie's made isn't new though, it's been done before. People thinking that Richie is doing a new thing have no idea of what's current. He's not embracing what's current, he's copying it and forgets to make it his own.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

then why cant you admire Richie or Bon Jovi for what they do now? yes i understand the music they produce isnt as good as it was 15years ago or it doesnt match some of todays standards but they still produce decent stuff and atleast they are still producing.

I don't admire them at all anymore for what they put out now. Why should I? The quality of records has rapidly been going downhill the past 10 years and The Circle was the first album for me that had no memorable songs. I think they're dead as a songwriters if they keep going down the road they've been going down this past decade. I have no doubt they're still able to write decent songs, but as long as they'll be catering to the average American audiences it'll be simplified dumbed down songs, just a tad better than what Kid Rock is producing.

Once they give up and start writing songs for the sake of having something to tell and wanting to be creative as opposed to wanting something to sell and putting a halt on creativity their music will be interesting again. I enjoy following their process but it's not looking to good now is it?

And by saying "at least they're still producing" you're making it sound like that's a good thing, but when you've got nothing to say you might as well shut up. It's the thing that Bon Jovi just refuses to do and instead they keep re-telling the same story over and over and over again. The only thing Bon Jovi gives me nowadays is the pleasure of live shows and hanging out with people who take Jon just as seriously as I do. I don't feel their latest efforts are decent. A decent song is something I want to hear again, yet I haven't played The Circle since it's been released. So really, what's there to admire?

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

The same for me, I don't like new albums since 2005 and hardly ever listen to couple of songs from those albums. The new efforts are really disappointing. Material, strange effects, lame production and all that stuff.

But Richie's new record.. I know it's not like a milestone of rock or something, but I'm really enjoying it. And I like to hear the songs again. When you compare it to 'The Circle' the guitar is much more interesting. And 'Burn The Candle Down' sounds like Hendrix' stuff.. And that's what I like.

But when it comes to new Bon Jovi album, I'm not really waiting for it. Lost my interests in new albums. Maybe they'll surprise me?
