I'm afraid that with no label behind, the chances of a physical release are really small. He doesn't promote these singles and relies on the documentary that it will do its job. Even no lyric videos on YT, just auto-generated stuff. And the teaser seems like recorded with an iphone..

I just remembered this recording with Tommy Lee which was back in 2019. I'm sure there's more what he has done.

It's still doable to release phyical product yourself if you want to, I've worked with many bands that have done just that BUT I don't feel like Richie has the mechanics in place to do that. In some way it makes more sense to release a track at a time as it prolongs the campaign. He could technically release songs in 4 song batches for the next 2 years. Where as if he releases an album, it's all over within a few weeks and there is nothing to keep people talking. He may just be releasing these 4 tracks to generate some interest from labels. I'm not really sure what his end game is at this point.

Interesting!

I feel like it wouldn't make sense to release 4 songs and then later have those 4 songs be part of the album but of the 4, one of them was earmarked as being the albums first single more than a year ago (Livin' Alone) and one was supposed to be the album title track (Songs that wrote my life) so it's tough to know what direction this all is going.

The song is beautiful. The instrumental is so atmospheric, and his sing... pretty cool. Ahh, and I love the guitar solo.

Just growing and growing. Bob Rock, Rocks.

Yeah I agree, all 4 songs on the album would be a bit much. I feel like he has enough songs to release these and then if anyone shows interest - well, I also have all these, so these 4 tracks could not even be on the final album. I feel like whatever the original album was has now changed shape. It could just be that Livin' Alone is still an album track and I Pray was just a stand alone single, as that one doesn't appear to be from the Bob Rock sessions. God knows at this point...

It also doesn't make much sense to release three EPs and one or two singles and then an album containing everything and bringing nothing new or maybe a song or two..

Yet that's pretty much exactly what RSO did...

Really curious why do you think so? I know it wasn't normal back in the day, but now many artist get 3 or more singles out before the album is out, as "singles" are mostly just digital streaming tracks there to hype up the final product (album). Before, it was leading single, then album, then rest of singles depending on the success of the album itself.

But now, for example Dua Lipa had 3 singles, and Pearl Jam also had more than one. 4 is more, yes, but you could even make 8 or whatever, it doesn't matter, as long as the album is out finally.
