Some thoughts:
On a scale from zero to ten, with the 2013 European leg being a 10, the THINFS promo shows a 5 and the 2015 mini-tour being 0, this was an easy 6. YGLABN sounded really good but like that Runaway from a few weeks ago it’s a bit of a mess, as if Jon is trying different approaches in the same song and not all of them are working. Didn’t like the backing vocals on BTBMB sounded like a pub band. Didn’t like how the song sounded at all. Some really bad vocals.
OMG we have a new song!! Wanted Dead or
Alive! Sounds pretty decent, I might like it
KTF was very good vocally (remember the scale I put at the beginning of the post, so I don’t have to type a disclaimer). There was even some aggression.
Prayer was a mess though. A terrible off-key shouting mess. The ending was ok, I guess.
The THINFS ones were solid, but that’s to be expected since they are the *easy* ones. Knockout was a little bit slow, or maybe I was expecting more energy. Ghost was the best version so far, the delivery was too flat in the promo shows and here it’s… well better, but still nowhere as good as the album version, needs 100% more passion. The solo was pretty bad though. I guess Shanks sounds better live than Bobby B. but I don’t like his playing. Love love love looooove Roller Coaster, and the prize for the best THINFS song live goes to…. BAT!
Didn’t listen to LH, IML, WSYCGH, WIGO and Bad MX. Couldn’t care less how they sound.
Well, if this is how Jon is going to sound this tour, it’s ok, it’ll sound better with some thousand screaming fans so I’ll probably buy some tickets. It’s clear he’s making an effort instead of giving half-assed performances. He should have done it earlier, but I’m not going to bitch about it anymore, I didn’t spend a cent when I felt they didn’t deserve it, so all is good.
What’s up with the shouting anyway? Isn’t Jon getting vocal lessons? Because shouting is going to **** his voice real fast
