I think it's a really good album. I do find it to be a much better listen than the leaked set.I like the finished product in track order. I think people should just wait to hear the final product going forward. I think it really ruins it.

I agree with most people's favorite song choices. I also agree with the, "who cares about the lyrics" modo. Richie could never replace Bon Jovi but this is nice to have between albums. Richie is a true artist and seems to be a great guy!

Overall I'm very pleased. 7 out of 10

Yeah, but the average Nickelback fan doesn't really pay much attention to anything. The songs have been dumbed down exactly for that reason and I doubt mr. Chad knows even how to write a song with any message at all. Richie however, after all the years of writing songs and the lyrics on previous efforts, should know how to write a decent verse, and his songs have a completely different tone to them than the songs Nickelback writes. But instead of writing lyrics that actually fit the melody and tone of a song, you get dumbed down unintellectual stuff like "in the funhouse the mirrors make you uuuuugly, after dark you're just a shadow in the night". I mean, double u tee ef?

Seb I just don't think the average Joe cares about music with a message anymore. Don't get me wrong, but well written songs are generally wasted on the public because the average Joe doesn't delve into lyrics much these days. iTunes =no album sleeves. I know every word for every Bon Jovi song (pretty much) from Bon Jovi to Have A Nice Day, but the more recent ones bought online I'd struggle.

Haven't heard anything from the album yet

Seb has the stupid mania of wanting to always carry his reason. Dude, this time you're alone.

You have made it very clear what you think of the new album during all this time.

I think it's a cool album. We like a many fans. Leave us enjoy the moment.

Peace.

Ah I thought you were a person who cared about the lyrics too. According to your age you must have some brain cells left.

Yeah, but he's not really writing lyrics for the people now aren't you? Richie's made it very clear that he wrote the songs for himself and then found out that his lyrics were "universal" (much like all Bon Jovi songs whoop-di-doo).

With that said, even if you're writing lyrics for the people and think they won't pay attention anyway it shouldn't give you any excuse to write absolutely awful lyrics like "shelter food and sex is all we need" unless you're purposely trying to take the piss, and Richie's taking himself way too seriously for that.

Well, I'm glad you like a many fans. I'm glad you like the album, now leave us enjoy a proper debate as opposed to having silly people like invade topics like these trying to start an argument for no reason.

To add to the lyrics 'shelter, food & sex is all we need', correct me if I'm wrong but I'm presuming he is talking about Human survival.... Which wud make his lyrics spot on and pretty powerful even if he did use the S word which many of u seem to be cringing at

So that's my theory opposed to it being cheesy Richie talkin of his needs and fetishes

Either way, its still a crap lyric for a song. I would add oxygen then onto that list, as that is somewhat important to survive too...

But yeah, Richie singing about being a sugar daddy etc usually just creeps me out to be honest!

JBJ - I believe

"Sambora's face is a mask of joyous disbelief, as if previously unaware of his ability to play the instrument at all. Reaching the last fistful of notes, he does a fair impression of a man who is actually ejaculating into his jet black flares."

The average person right now does not care about the genius behind music anymore. If they can dance to it, groove to it, or rap to it, they are satisfied.

With the lyrics of today, nobody cares. They can't. Nicki Minaj - Starships actually has the lyric Twinkle Twinkle Little Star but people love it because of the hard club break within the song. Call Me Maybe, I mean seriously.

But if you look back historically, it's always been like that, just not 100% like it is today. I've discussed the whole lyric thing in other threads and I always use Pearl Jam as an example because nobody knew what the hell Eddie was saying, yet everyone could sing along to the songs.

I do appreciate a good lyric but it's also the attitude behind the lyric. Bon Jovi is known to have both but what sometimes makes a good lyric is Jon’s delivery. Good Guys Don't Always Wear White. It sounds like a theme to a gay wedding (which isn't a bad thing) but it's Jon's delivery that changes that perception.

And that's how I feel about Richie's album lyrically.
