I'm glad to see the board digs the album. 19 of the 32 people voted it 17 and up. In the end it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, only if you like it or if you don't. I really like it. It has it's weak spots but it's been in my rotation for over 5 months now so it's certainly sticking with me.

I wouldn't read too much into the opinion of most users of Jovitalk. Everyone thought The Circle was the best thing since sliced bread when it had just been released. Half a year later and no one gave a shit about the record anymore with the odd exception here and there. Opinions on Jovitalk (yes even on Jovitalk) are always more positive at the start, but give it half a year to a year and everyone adjusts their opinion a bit more to the negative side as the novelty has worn off by then. Seeing as to how this has happened with every record since Crush, I doubt it'll change with this one. This will mean that considering there's not that many who've given this record the same rates as The Circle got back then, it'll be given the same rating by then I am giving it now. You might've needed to read that sentence a few times though.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I only enjoy "You can only get so high" on this record.

Anyway, how weird/unfunny/retarded/sexually creepy is Richie when he talks to the audience? My god that show at the radio.. You're not funny Richie, stick to what you know and can do.

I went with 7. I actually feel tracks 7-10 are all fantastic. Just wonderful. The first half of the album is so disjointed though. I'm not a big fan of Burn That Candle Down, Taking A Chance On The Wind, or Weathering the Storm. Sugar Daddy, I mean, it's cringe worthy, but it's not all bad either. It seems odd that the 4 best tracks, at least in my opinion, were placed in the back half of the album.

I see what you're saying but you've put it in a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. If the board agrees with you the album is terrible it's "I was right, the album sucks". If they like it it's "Well it's too early to gauge a true reaction". Why make the poll at all if the board's opinion doesn't matter this early?

Considering how there's 11 songs on the record and pretty much the consensus in most replies is that there's about 3 to 4 songs worth mentioning and the rest gets absolutely ripped apart, I wonder if most people actually really think it's worth a 4 on a scale from 1-10. It might sound harsh, but I feel it's not worth any higher grade. What's your take?

I give it a 6 and its lucky to get that. The good is really good but the bad is damn awful. Plus the record is too safe. Sounds like Bon Jovi B-sides. Nothing on there that makes you go wow!

I gave the record a 6. A 5 would be a fairer reflection of my opinion but I'm biased when it comes to anything to do with Bon Jovi and when I'm put on the spot stuff like that happens

The album just sounds very unnecessary - I have trouble believing this is the album Richie has talked about making for all these years. There are some vivid moments, but there is a lot of slack. I am disappointed that nothing on this record feels urgent, and most of it isn't very convincing.

I thought a solo album might give Richie a chance to use all these ideas he reckons he's been working on, but it just seems to have given him the ability to wallow in self-indulgence. SITT and US seemed like complete albums, with a musical commitment. AOTL sounds bloated and confused. I'm not a musician, so I can only explain my opinion by saying that if this album was a book it would need some serious editing.
