Sugar Daddy - is so bad I cant describe it.
I've finally had a chance to really listen to the record and I agree with you with the exception of Sugar Daddy. I actually really like that song, lol! The song that gets the AWFUL award for me is World. I give the cd a 6 as I would probably only want to hear 4 of the 11 songs again.

I will say liking 5 songs on this effort is 3 more than I liked on US, lol!!

Spent two to three weeks "living" with Aftermath, and I have to say Its really grown on me.....despite my initial "horror" of overproduction on "candle" and certain vocal effects etc etc, Im really starting to enjoy listening to it.......Im still not comfortable with the "Shelter Food & Sex" lyric on weathering the storm it spoils a good song as you know its "coming"......World has yet to grow on me, but overall I have done a complete U TURN on this album and wether its becasue I have heard Richie saying this on interviews etc, but you do get a sense of depth and character and dare i say soul to the album, something Jon should take note of for the Album "after" this next one which is probably already in the can waiting release....does any of the above make any sense to anyone else

I've been listening to Aftermath alongside Bon Jovi records - and it just doesn't compare to me. Except for 7 years gone which as has been said, could easily be a Jovi song.

But just been listening to it along with Bounce, which is by no means my favourite album, and I'd go with most of the songs on Bounce rather than Aftermath every time.

"Shelter, food and sex is all we need" This phrase was a real feeling of Richie a few years ago (maybe add alcohol).

Not so much fuss over the word sex. Weathering The Storm is not a universal song, is a personal song about the experiences that Richie has passed in recent years, he has been lost, walking down the wrong path, that phrase is proof of that. This song refers to the past. Jon has the perfect life, and it's ****ing vanilla, Jon only sing the love.

But the life of Richie is different and always had a dirty mind, I like that.

Funny:
Remember Richie gestures in Bad medicine, remember pants richie on bounce tour, yes, the girl sucking the ice cream in his crotch. Richie has spent years wandering from flower to flower, not for love, but rather out of necessity, we all know that there was no romance with Denise Richards or Yasmin Mitri, was just sex.

Weathering The Storm is real, not a utopia as many songs of Bon Jovi. It is a personal experience of the past, when richie wandered aimlessly, not a universal message about for overcoming our problems of life.

And the song Sugar Daddy.... is the guilty pleasure of Richie. Don't take it seriously.

I listened to the first 8 songs and turned it off - I really hadn't liked anything at that point. Apart from Blaze of Glory I've never particularly liked any of the solo albums so I didn't have high expectations, but this did seem pretty poor, for my tastes anyway.

Is it a grower or did people love it on the first listen?

I rate it a 6.
I gave 1 point per song that I really like and that's 6 songs. I don't think the others are rubbish but they aren't worth a point when it comes to rating this album in this topic.

I salute you,
TS

Did he make Sugar Daddy as a twisted reverse of If I was Your Mother
