Not chance in hell... Jon doesn't play that game. He's not having Richie secretly play while using Phil as a decoy

Jon is looking to promote a documentary that Richie is featuring heavily in. Dangling that carrot about Richie's potential return is just a way to generate interest and headines and promote the documentary. As others have said there is no way Richie is returning to tour an album he wasn't involved in. And if Jon's statement about the door is always open was true, then Richie would already be back.

Richie's possible return addressed:

Also, seems the end of this video is alluding to Richie's return:

I think listening to the ending... it seems like Jon is also looking for that reconciliation, so this will happen at some point, but I don't think it will be on this album.

Jon has also said on multiple occasions that he would prepare for a possible tour next year, well, here's the thing, if Richie left in the middle of a tour, Richie will come back in the middle of another tour. That would be the perfect synergy.

But I don't think he'll be on this new album, nor in the possible promotional show they're preparing in June, although it would be great to see him play at least one song (wanted dead or alive) to close the show.

We don't know what will happen at Christmas and the beginning of the year, but I can see some promotional tricks, from a box set for fans, to a new Greatest Hits to promote the new tour next year.

Maybe with one of those hypothetical releases, them have Richie on board, for the 2024 tour.

Both the box set and a new Greatest Hits, would enjoy unreleased songs with a possible contribution from Richie.

But all this is just a Maybe, an illusion, a fanatic wish. Dreaming is free, so fly high baby.

I don't see Jon agreeing to new GH, after opposing so much the last one. And take also the fact there were absolutely zero new hits after the last GH, so there's no point

Man, that word really doesn't mean what you think it does. Neither of them in this context!

Haha true, they also didn't have new hits, but they also didn't have Jon in command with his contemporary relevance criteria

EDIT: One thing though that would interest me personally (but have no hope that it's realistic or interesting to broader audience) would be kind of "Best of" edition, and not greatest hits. And while we're at it, I would like a modern Jovi best of. Like here it's 15 or something best tracks since 2000 only

Another interesting moment in here is at 8:30 discussing the bass line to Livin’ on a Prayer - tacit admission that Hugh was behind the scenes all along or just a slip of the tongue? I know that’s a longstanding rumour, but I’d never heard it out of Jon’s mouth before.
