One should keep in mind that both Jon and Richie had both basically said the same thing (back then more Richie than Jon) in "Behind The Music" in 2000 and then again Jon in 2012.
Here's the part where he talks about it:
Jon Bon Jovi - " Interview On Oprah's Master Class OWN " (2012) - YouTube
I guess Jon will have to explain this history every 12 years. See you in 2036.

"Substance abuse or anxieties or single parenting, all those things weighed on him, losing his dad. These were all very hard things," Sambora's former bandmate admitted. "But in fairness, why would I take away the livelihoods of not only the band, but the 120 guys in the crew? Or the millions of people that bought a ticket? What am I going to do? Shut it down because you don't want to go to rehab?"
Ouch. As much as it hurts, Jon does have a point.

I'm so over the Richie drama...

Dorethea texting the kids "He's Back" gave me chills. Time will tell if it's true or not but I'll pretend he is even if it's just for 5 minutes.

I'm not so sure? He implies that Richie said he should stop the band without him, and that he continued the band because of those other people who's jobs depended on him. Richie would have been under no illusion that Jon would carry on without him, he did it once before when Richie went to rehab. So that comment really doesn't make any sense, apart from trying to paint himself as Jon the saint, yet again.

As far as we know Richie had made it clear that he wanted to slow down and Jon didn't want to. Both points of view are fair enough.

But if Jon was the one that wanted to stop touring, he wouldn't give a damn about those 120 crew members....

Richie was going through a tough time for all of the things Jon mentioned and more, and to me, it doesn't feel like Jon was there to support his "friend" at all. Instead of giving Richie a leave of absence from the band he saw it as an opportunity to get rid of him. The whole "Richie didn't turn up for work for 11 years"....well, we all know from interviews that Richie was planning to be back by September, but that never happened. So you have to presume that the reason that didn't happen was because Jon didn't allow it..

The "anxieties" comment is interesting, and not something I've heard mentioned before? Axieties over what? I wonder if this has anything to do with the reason he seems so relunctant to put his new mateiral out there? Axieties about it failing? Or not being good enough? It opens a whole other aspect to Richie that I've never considered....

At the end of the day, it's still all speculation and maybe the documentary will shed more light on that, maybe it won't. I do find it interesting (and surprising, almost unbelievable) that Jon didn't have final say on the edit though....

Is this the same Dorethea that didn't realise that his voice was shot until 2022....

In all fairness Jon does seem much happier and more relaxed these days which is good to see.

The problem for Richie is only one person decides that in the context of the band. Jon is implying that Richie was trying to make the whole operation stop or slow down. That seems unlikely to me but let's see.

Yes and no. I genuinely don't think Jon would shut it all down during a tour. Stopping touring is slightly different to what Richie did. We sometimes forget Richie did drop the rest of the band and the crew in it when he left, whatever the reasons.

Yeah, it seems that way. But we already know this, the question is why Jon decided enough is enough. Was it due to increasing creative differences, or Jon pushing the band more towards a solo thing, or was it because Richie had burned more bridges than we know about.

I have my doubts on this, but it is a good marketing line. Who knows, we will see soon. I want to know if Richie ever told Jon straight he was out of Bon Jovi, or whether he asked for X amount of time to get himself together.

Maybe not turning up that night, Richie expected Jon to cancel. Maybe that's what he means, rather than stopping the band.

Agreed, but I'm pretty sure it was made clear before the WAN tour that Richie (and maybe Tico too) wanted/needed to slow down. If Jon doesn't want to fine, find a way around it. The problem with Jon is that there is no compromise I think. It's his way or you're out.

That's what I hope the documentary will clear up, but I have my doubts.

I had read somewhere that they say that Richie was at Hawaii the day of the concert in Calgary during the BWC tour, something like that... idk if it was true.
