This is how i see that phrase...
I think he actually said "you have to be able to sing, you have to be able to play," so you are probably correct. That would also fit into Jon's tiresome you gotta come to work soundbite.

Man, considering how often Richie gets mentioned, a good manager to capitalize on it sure would come in handy for him now

That doesn't make any sense. The quote is "You gotta be able to sing and play, and you gotta go to work". So it doesn't make sense in that context and he would be saying the same thing twice. There is 100% and implication there in my opinion.

I think it was inevitable with the documentary coming. But the perfect opportunity, at least in the UK, with The Masked Singer thing came and went. All the documentary is going to do is make people want a reunion, not to be looking for Sambora solo material, so I think the oportunities for him there are limited. I don't think the Bon Jovi PR team want him out there promoting the documentary either.

I still strongly think he was talking about 2014 onwards versus 2012 and pre.

Maybe. Kinda ironic that he mentions singing though, all things considered...

Ironic, yeah, but between the two of them one of them wants to get up there and try, regardless of the nefarious reasons.

Oh come on...Jon spent ten years not giving a damn, knowing full well his voice was shit.

The only reason he's getting it fixed now is cos he was rumbled on the last tour and has no choice...the fact that the 2022 was even booked when his voice was in that state was a dispicable money grab that was really disrespectful to the fans shelling out hundreds of dollars for those tickets...

But suddenly he's a hero for getting it sorted....
