I honestly don't care how many people do or don't like the RSO EPs. I just don't like being told what I can and can't like.

I think the first is OK and the second is good. I'm entitled to my opinion...
Has anyone told you that you can't like it? I don't think so. But I can express my bewilderment how some people can like something that I dislike.

It's not a judgement that my opinion is correct and their opinion is wrong.

To tell other people that "You can’t call this good music, cause simply - it isn’t." is just plain silly. What is crap to one person could be amazing to another. Not everyone's taste is the same. I don't get how that is so difficult for some people to understand.

To some people Bon Jovi suck and have never done a good song. They are not wrong, that's just their opinion.
I think you just misunderstood Thierry's post. It's a phrase, not a command.

He's not forbidding you to call it good music. He could have said: "This can't be considered good music..." You wouldn't take that as a command, would you?

just saw the gig Rso did for namm 2018, 45 mins - 8 songs - only one from the 2 rso eps...
i end up telling mainly negative stuff about the rso project but it is so directionless and uninspired...richie keeps acting weird, trying to be a frontman but he acts weird and akward to say the least...he also tries to direct the band and he just confuses them.
in a live gig mistakes happen but this whole project has zero chances of success, no tight performances, no rehearshals, all over the place performances. nowdays with all the social media and exposure people can identify if someone is genuine and loves what he does or if he feels he is the rockstar who doesnt really try anymore...
Richie should take an acoustic guitar and write a couple of songs true to him, he cant back the whole rock n roll star and sadly makes a foll of himself.

ps. i ve listened to the two eps again yesterday and some of the songs like magic or together on the outside sound pleasant but sth is missing for sure imo

It's sad, but you're totally right...the whole project makes no sense at all. However, talking about acoustic stuff, the songs off the eps performed live acousticly are actually listenable and interesting. There's two great guitar players and good singers, why the hell don't they want to show it?

Love this sound, they just have to improve and have more security to play their new songs.

RICHIE SAMBORA and ORIANTHI Soundcheck Live NAMM at YOST Theatre - YouTube
better than back in the days _ but still aweful

Message from doodleedledoo says it all

I hate to be that guy, but this is awful for professionals. Musically they have little sense of dynamics, Orianthi sounds good as a guitar player but she's got the same problem as Sambora, neither of them ever pull back or shut up. It's just an unrelenting wail fest, even when the sax player is soloing. They sound like they've been listening to each other as soloists 'cause they both seem to follow the same pattern; a few wailing pentatonic bits and then a widdley widdley bit. They're playing like a decent, from the middle of nowhere, cover band. That metal like version of One Way Out, added nothing new, special, personal, nothing, just a cheap fast food version of the Allmans. Same with Pride & Joy. Some songs not good for her range, they can both sing and play but it just needs to be reeled in if they're going to try to make anything of this partnership. They might think, "it's only Rock and Roll, lighten up" but I say, you can't afford to throw it away in these days. You need to be tight, concise and authentic on some level. I wanted to like their partnership but I can't. I'm embarrassed for them.

Well, I really enjoyed that performance, Richie's vocals are actually in great shape now. I agree that they need to pull back in the soloing a little, but not much. It's far from the wail fest that "doodleedledoo" suggests. He also called Pride and Joy a "metal version" which is ridiculous....

It's amusing that people complain that there are not enough guitars on the EPs and then when they play live their is too much. Another perfect example of how they can do no right with some people...

I do wish that they would cut down the covers and play more of their own stuff. I wonder if one of the EPs will be a covers EP and that's why we haven't got I Got You Babe on any of the releases yet? Having said that I thought Pride and Joy was great and nice to see an upbeat Bluesier number in the set!

There are clearly some edits between songs, so I wonder if this is the full set list or not?

The lack of rehearsals were the main criticism of their early performances and it sounds to me like that have finally addressed this, as the band seemed pretty tight, so it's heading in the right direction as far as I'm concerned...

Instrumentally, it's a mess.

Vocally, however, this is the best Richie has sounded since 2013.

This drummer is the one that used to play with them in the past?

If it is, yes, the rehearsal made results. If it's not, finally they manage to got a better drummer.

The bass player is good to and has presence.

I think the problem with the "too much guitar" is because they keeping solos that leads nowhere. But apart from this, I liked. Richie voice is very good. I just don't take why he keeping doing that ugly face all the time

Don’t get it. Why so many covers when they have new material? They are surely trying to promote RSO yet barely play their own songs.

Richie sounds great but he’s just awkward as a frontman. The LYHOM intro is pure JBJ. Counterproductive when he’s trying to break away from the Bon Jovi sideman label to literally copy what the frontman of said band has done for years. Think of something new.

Also, the soloing is mostly shit. It’s repetitive, uninspiring and often just a mess.

People need to realise that they are getting scrutinised (as Jon does persistently vocally) because they are seasoned, talented musicians serving up average, chaotic live shows. It’s not a witch hunt. He sounds great. Much better than Jon. But the rest is just a mess.
