He was the keyboards player for Michael Jackson (or should I say 'was supposed to be' for the This Is It), so perhaps that's his role in Richie's album as well?

No it's not! He was being sarcastic. He said that he didn't want to release the album and have it caught up in the Christmas traffic. Meaning, so much stuff gets released around that time and it could get overlooked.

Oops! My mistake! Couldn't really understand all his mumbling... seems like the interviewer understood the same thing that I did though... but... errr... Xmas or no Xmas traffic, I can predict that this album will be overlooked nonetheless! And please don't get me wrong : I love his 3 solo albums but he's made such a mess of his sweet little self since 2012/2013 that I can no longer expect the best from him. And it makes me sad. Listening to a SRV concert while typing, makes me remember how big a fan he is & interviews in which he said how much he'd like to play SRV if ever someone made a biopic...

Well it's going to be overlooked in any case... I mean, nobody gave a f*** about Aftermath as well...

I think it's more than just a keyboard player. This guy seems to be on every site with Richie and Ori. Therefore could have an more important role in the production of the new album, not only as keyboard player.
