But if Richie wanted to do what Jon is doing he would have stayed in the band. That was the whole point of him leaving. He doesn't want to stay the same, nor should he have to...

But WHY does it need to be one or the other? To hold your interest or in general? It's clearly a group project.

Too confusing... no ownership... notice how little talk there is on both sides... there was more talk about this prior to the release.... now that it's out, no one knows what to say... there is just no substance...

my link still works i havent closed my pc in 3 days and i ve listened multiple times the 1st rso ep...
i have to confess it takes me time to decide if i really like a song, nevertheless even if i m richie fan i dont really like it. as many mentioned it sounds dated chasing fashions long gone.. richie should try sth new and brave. this sound doesnt work for me at all. its middle of the road trying to get a radio hit no matter what.
bob rock didnt really did a good job imo here...the songs are too busy but my main problem is an ep must have a direction...in a 12 song album you are allowed to have 1-2 songs that take a left turn but this is just a selection of songs trying to see if there is a market for their product...its not an artistic statement...the lyrics i got arent that good as well. i m sure there will be a couple of good songs cause richie is a goodsongwriter but ep.1. falls short imo

It's not confusing. It's been stated from the beginning that it's an equal partnership. I think everyone here expected the album to be mainly duets. I was surprised Richie got his own song...

It's not out until next week. This was a leak. There's been pages and pages of conversation on here....I don't get what you are trying to say....or did you mean Ori and Richie? They will be talking about it once it's officially out I'm sure...

Well I've finally heard the songs. Given the reviews thus far I was expecting the worst, but they are actually a fairly pleasant set of songs to listen to. I'd happily listen to them a few times, it wouldn't make me rush out to buy a ticket to see them based on this material alone.

Lyrically, they are about as deep as a puddle which is disappointing given Richie's past projects and the fact you'd think he'd have something to say.

Rise is probably my favourite, probably because it's closest to a BJ song on there, it's like a Crush B-side. Its a Jovi by the numbers right down to the standing my ground stuff.

Good Times, despite being a cheap facsimile of Sweet Home Alabama, is a nice enough tune despite the lyrics reading like some thinly veiled threat from Orianthi towards Richie. The "rap" isn't a rap, I wasn't sure it was Richie to be honest. It's trying to be current. Don't know why, as there fans are guitar nuts or Jovi fans. There not going to fill the void left by 1D.

Masterpiece, despite the title, is simply ok. Doesn't stand out whilst not being bad.

Truth is the one they've been playing live so that's not a new one on me. Again, it's ok. But there voices don't blend that well for me and it's nice enough to listen to a few times, but it's not going to get your blood pumping to hear them play it.

Take Me is one of the better songs, I can get on board with a bit of melancholy Richie. Musically, again its a different direction, but this seems the most Richie song on there.

Take Me & Good times having the same drum loop intro probably annoys me more than it should.

So, it's exceeded my expectations which were albeit low. Mainly because, no offence to her, I've no interest in Orianthi and want a Richie Sambora solo project. I've loved all of his solo albums, and even think Aftermath is better than Undiscovered Soul. I could get on board with Richie leaving Bon Jovi to tour his solo stuff and do his own work all day long, rather than a vanity project with his squeeze. But for what it is so far, it's ok.

I don't buy the EP excuses that it's trendy to do. Nonsense. Anyone can bang albums, singles and whatnot onto Spotify. There's no excuse to wait 4 years and then just put out 5 songs. If it ends up being 4 or 5 EPs released in fairly quick succession then fair enough, but I'd only see the point of that if each EP were in a different direction to each other, and it's not as if this one has any sort of coherent arch to it.

The main thing that strikes me is despite having 2 great guitar players, there's next to sod all guitar on the songs bar the odd little solo on a couple of songs. These two have been dicking around "jamming" and noodling to the point of stinking the joint out at times, and it comes to their album and they go all keys and contemporary. It may sound beefed up when they play it live, but they might as well leave the guitars at home touring those songs.

So, the RSO project is not a total bomb for me so far. I'm glad I can find something to like in there to hear, even if I'd rather they didn't drag the project out for years and Richie went and did a proper solo album and tour. Just pull your finger out and get the rest out there!

100 percent agreed. Writing off a project because a small group got it early and the rest aren't talking about it? Give me a break, at least give it time to actually come out.

Finally listened to it for the first time. It's not amazing, but not bad by any means.

The sound is a lot closer to Orianthi's studio work than Richie's. Rise and Masterpiece are both pretty basic and boring at first glance, Truth I don't remember at all, Good Times is basic but pleasing. Take Me is the highlight as it sounds like nothing Richie has done before and sounds like it's well-written. This is the one that gets into my weekly rotation of songs.
