The project has barley started. Once the album is out next year and they are touring, and the promotion has built up, we can then discuss if it has been a success or not. Some people just don't get how this stuff works, this is not Bon Jovi, this is not a multi million dollar promo campaign. You have to build it up. It's Starting all over again....

Is it possible? Sure. Is it likely that it will? I don't think so. The initial digital numbers (Spotify, YouTube, iTunes) have been very weak. Nobody knows what happens in the future, but we can make assessments based on evidence we have.

You're welcome to make assessments, but to say that the project has already failed is ridiculous...the people that want this to fail keep quoting the Spotify numbers...yet ignore the decent iTunes positions and the fact that we don't know how many were sold through the website. Most people over 40 don't use Spotify which is the core audience for this, so far...

It's way to early to make any accurate assessments either way...Like I said, once we have the album let's see how it did then....February is a long way off....

Don't shoot the messenger: This came out today - it would be the first week they could show up and their Friday, Saturday and Sunday would be on this count. Looking at ITunes in the 9 countries they made the count (see older post for link) that was their best 3 days. Number 1 is Shania Twain and her album released the same day. I don't see them on Billboard 200, rock or digital charts here. Now, this is just the US - but the ITunes link I posted was world wide. IMO, if they don't get some consistently (not like in the past, one decent, one fiasco) solid shows on the road or release a more rock/guitar based (what most comments were looking for) second EP asap - they will flatline fast. Remember - she said 2 EP's followed by an album in Feb. but on a radio interview a few days later - he said 4 EP's.

I don't know if sales from their web page would be reported, that would probably be mgmt.'s call rather to report or not. I would think they would as that is how Gold/Platinum status is calculated.

I was thinking that someone on these boards had a professional billboard account/membership that could see actual sales numbers? (Nielson soundscan )

I don't think a 5 track EP would be eligible for the billboard albums charts, it certainly wouldn't be in the UK album charts. It's also highly likely that copies sold via the bands own website don't count towards billboard.

Does anyone know if Aftermath made the billboard charts at all?

It could be 4 EPs plus an album? 2 before the album and 2 after? Or it could be none that that!

Never mind, I've just looked it up. 149 on the billboard for Aftermath. I don't think we can expect RSO to perform better than Richie solo at this point. Aftermath had a music video and quite a bit of promo, which hopefully RSO are saving for the album.

Ori's last album didn't make the billboard 200, but made 35 on the Indie charts

According to this article, "RSO recorded 22 songs, and right now the plan is to release them over the next year as a series of four EPs". Among them is a song "One Night of Peace" that they plan to perform on November 29th in a televised concert to salute the troops (I wonder whether it's the same song that was previously recorded by Bruce Foster). Also, there is a PBS Soundstage special on Halloween in Chicago. Plan is to play at least 2 EPs entirely. Now they are hiring players also for a world tour, that will follow these concerts.

I'd bet big money that it's a reworked version of that song, yeah.

This was a great interview. It's clear he got the message loud and clear there wasn't enough guitars on the EP. I'm looking forward to all of this. A little weird they're hiring another new band or still switching in and out people.

Yeah, even Paul Mccartney said they need more guitars. Shame.

But it seems that the good is yet to come. Having 22 songs with different styles can be great and very refreshing.

I have the feeling that when we have all the RSO music, it will be worth the trip. 22 or 25 songs aprox. I really want to continue discovering the new music. Rise EP is growing a bit in me. It is really nice.
