It won't be long before the big breakup happens and he goes crying back to Jon...

I imagine that is exactly what Jon has said about Richie in the past (privately of course).

No it isn't. Adding a banjo doesn't make things country and adding heavy guitars deep in the mix doesn't make it rock music either. This supposed diversity can be traced back to the albums boybands were making in the late nineties, early zeros. Or is Backstreet's Back a rock song to you as well?

Sorry RD, Richie and Ori still seem very happy together (check out her Instagram), so this break up that you've been longing for is nowhere on the horizon yet...

If backstreet back had as many guitars as I Don't Want To Need You Now, then yeah maybe. But it doesn't, so your point is null and void.

Walk With Me is more country than a lot of things on country radio today. Good Times has elements of current country.

Regardless the majority of these song or styles wouldnt fit on a Bon Jovi record, which was my point of Richie wanting to do something outside of the limited Bon Jovi/Shanks box.

I've no idea what amount of guitars you're hearing because all I'm hearing is noise buried deep in the mix to resemble some guitar sounds. Again, adding heavy guitars in a mix doesn't make it a rock song, much like Backtreet's Back isn't a rock song either because it contains heavy guitar sounds.

If your defining a genre by what's played on a radio dedicated to said genre you're doing it wrong anyway. Country radio has stopped playing country music. And a song having elements of current country doesn't make it country either. Who Says You Can't Go Home has elements of country in it. It still doesn't make it a country song. Lost Highway has a banjo in it. Still not country.

Yet all he's doing is the same thing. He's been releasing pop songs, just like Bon Jovi. He's just taken the pop elementents up a notch, which is just about the only difference with a Bon Jovi record.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

A rock song is defined by the guitars. You take all of the guitars out of a rock song then it's not a rock song. If Rise, Making History and I Don't Want To Have To Need You Now is not a rock song then what are they? They are certainly not pop although they may have elements of that in there. Masterpiece is a Pop song. We Are Magic is a pop song.

Country radio is still playing country music, just not what YOU define has country music. Like any style of music it has evolved and changed over the years to be almost unrecognisable from what it originally was. Yes it's crossed over into other genres but so did metal in the 80s....

You're hearing what you want to hear. I know you'll accuse me of the same, so I'm not going round in circles with you. Genres are all subjective really at the end of the day. People hear different things in the same things...
