I LOL'd at the second comment under the picture. He really doesn't have any muscle definition in his arms. Not that it's important for a guy his age, but I chuckled a bit. He does however look better than he did during most of 2014.

Perhaps he stopped drinking again and his new album can bomb just in time for him to join Bon Jovi

Richie is in his mid 50's, he's not 90 so having muscle tone is not uncommon for someone his age. You might have to work a little harder but I know plenty of guys his age with muscle tone. Jon is only a couple years younger and he is as solid as a rock. IMO, this picture is just a pose and not Richie in real action which is the result of that hunched over floppy look...

This upcoming album and all future Richie albums are just fan albums. If Richie couldn't produce a hit album during Bon Jovi's prime, there is no way he'll do it now especially during these times. To say when the album flops is like living in the past. Times have changed and now it's about what the album could do. Albums are like the seed. It's about touring and promoting to keep a legacy alive.

I agree to some extent, but there's still commercial expectations. Obviously he's not expecting a hit at this point, but, for example, if you expect the album to sell 50 copies and it only sells 5, that's still a disappointment. You can't tell me Richie was not disappointed by how poorly his album and tour was received in US in 2012. And back then he still had a bigger % of Jovi fans interest. Now a good number of them have turned on him (incl. myself, I saw him in 2012, will never see him again), so no matter how low the standards of success are for Richie, I think the new album still flops based on them. And with semi-famous people working on it, it can't be financially viable. Even tour-wise in 2014 he couldn't sell out most of his European shows (which was no problem 2 years prior). I can't imagine him continuing this path for very long. It may take a few years, but he'll go back to Jon at some point, I believe.

I don't think this album will be THAT bad of a flop because it will have both Richie's and Orianthi's fans buying it plus the random fans from all those random people who have collaborated on it. Orianthi had a platinum album in the USA a few years ago so that means she moved a million copies and that's impressive in this day of overall declining music sales where people only buy the singles or just listen to what they want for free online.

I think it depends on what kind of backing it has. Orianthi's album moved a bunch of copies when it came out in 2009, I remember working at a radio station and According to You was played pretty constantly, but she was signed to a major label that really pushed it. I don't think they'll have that same backing this time around with a major label.

I don't see it going anywhere far because he'll need a newer fanbase. If he couldn't do it in 2012 with the band's fans on his side (or at least the ones who appreciated him to the point where he knew his solo side) the band's fans he's lost now that he's no longer a member...its' going to be really tough. I agree with Walleris's point about being financially viable. He's been recording this for almost a year now in pricey studios with a a ton of different people. I don't see how he can break even, it sounds like a passion project more than a money maker to me.

Geffen Records put out Orianthi's album in 09 "...to correlate with the buzz of Michael Jackson's This is It". It went gold Japan and the Single was Plat. in US. I think that buzz has played out. Her last release with her cover of ERLHTY was Japan only and it never made Billboard Japan Top 100. They have been talking about this album - if you look at just the first post here for well over a year and shared a lot of studio pics. Production changed, just feels scattered. Had a let's go play rock star feel IMO. Now, BJ has a new album in the works and I think that may put some pressure on to actually release an album asap. Seems more of her connections have come into the fold? Dangerbird dropped RS, his own statement in an interview somewhere in 2012 two weeks after AMOL hit. (His friend who worked there moved over to Electra.) Promotion and touring became his. He really sounded let down and in 12 he was playing well, toured respectfully in Europe but poor support in the US. Last year the shows were disappointing to several on here and from people I know. He will make it sound incredible, just like fashion was until time came to leave it - then it was loosing millions. I know that's how "business" works. Maybe since he's out of fashion he needs a new tax write off?

I don't think he's doing all this as a tax write off, that's a lot of work for a tax write off. I think he's honestly doing in his heart what he wants to do, which is however many years of pent up aggression about not being able to call the shots as a sideman. Notice how big of a juxtaposition it is to complain about not being able to jam solos with Bon Jovi and then having him and Orianthi soloing at the same time during a bunch of songs?

I'm curious to what the album will sound like but it seems pretty scattered so far. Like a lot of recording and then starting over completely.
