Just because inquiring minds want to know, and I'm curious as a cat, I emailed Condor. This is their response regarding the "HL" designation on the fly-over planes:

Quote:
The HL designation refers to the very famous 308th Fighter Squadron, (HL) 31st Fighter Group... Here is a link... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/31st_Operations_Group

The letters were there so planes could be identified without radio contact. That Squadron as referenced in the link was in service 1942-1945
So now we know. (Probably more than anyone else ever wanted to know!)

We still don't know if Richie deliberately chose them because of the HL designation; but life is full of questions.

They'd been dating for just over a year as of Bora Bora. But they may not have been "going steady" before Ori moved in with Richie -- in which case Ori would have no grounds on which to make an issue of not being invited, especially if the trip was a gift to Ava from both her parents. Ori should get the benefit of the doubt about Bora Bora, then -- thanks for posting, GoLittlePerson!

yeah, she's relatively young when compared to blues based artists. It's not all about chart hits these days. Look at someone like joe Bonamassa, never had a radio hit, but plays arenas over here at £100 a ticket! Simply by working hard, playing live a lot, working the social medias etc. Whather she's got that in her is another question, but to write her off at 33 is silly.

As far as I'm concerned, it's not an issue of right or wrong, should or shouldn't, or who gets the benefit of the doubt (or not). I might think I'd react differently, but how Ori chooses to react in any situation is her business. Quite frankly, I'd prefer that she keep it her business, rather than spreading it all over social media. But that's her call, too.

My response was to your comment, not Ori's reaction, or lack thereof. (I don't think your reaction to the way a boyfriend spent his money is wrong either, btw; I just think I would have reacted more to something different.)

No thanks, I'd rather not.
There's a reason I didn't keep up with it the first time around. IMO, there's a difference in creating a "buzz" about a project and just creating drama. I think her most of posts contributed more to the latter.

I figure if there's anything I need to know about her, Richie, or RSO, somebody will post it here or it'll be in the news. I can always go back and search through posts if I want to; but most cases don't merit that kind of attention.

Ori's music will always attract some people here and there. Being a guitarist is a great job bc there's no expiry date, you basically die with the instrument in your lap. I've heard some of her new stuff and I like it. I couldn't care less about comparing her to anyone, whether she's "good" or "not good". If you like something, then it's your best and the others can shut up with their opinions. Interesingly enough, a friend of mine noticed that she's been losing fans at a rather worrying rate so maybe the failure of RSO project will just benefit her career. Her mental well-being and broken heart is another thing... Can't say it surprises me, though!

I think writing either one of them off is short-sighted. Nobody knows what lies 'round the bend.

Hopefully what I said didn't come across that way. My point was more from from an age perspective and types of fan bases.

I still think Richie could do well as a solo artist, he's certainly capable as a song writer and has the name, all it would take here in England would one great song strongly playlisted song on Radio 2 and it would increase awareness ten fold, and I don't believe that is out of the question, with the right backing (one of the larger independant labels). But it also takes a lot of work if he's really going to see the benefits of it, a lot of playing live, a lot of doing promo etc and I'm not sure that Richie's got that in him anymore. he'd rather be on the beach, and I can't say I blame him. I hope I'm wrong, but I see him slowing down now, as well as JBJ....I guess they both already have to be honest...

I think before Orianthi gets sent off to the old lady’s home, we could consider someone like Chris Stapleton who is 40 and been trying to make a name for himself nearly 20 years. It’s only been in the last 2-3 years that the industry has gone Chris Stapleton crazy.

No, it didn't. Not to me, anyway. I was thinking more about people (not just here, but across the fandom) who, because they have been disappointed for whatever reason, now think Ori's been in the way of Richie doing a good solo album, she's never going to amount to anything, Richie's washed up beyond redemption, Jon's voice is never going to be any better, blah, blah, blah. Just pessimistic, in general.

I don't know if it's an age thing, a lack of patience, the fact that our society is so used to "instant" everything, or what; but It seems to me that a lot of fans are forgetting that sometimes things have a surprising way of working themselves out.

Pollyanna has spoken.
