wow couldnt see this coming...jon isnt going to be happy about it. and richie probably should try someone new for his solo endeavours not one with so much history...and i m sure richie will have some bad memories as well. maybe i m rushing a bit but my prediction is that with doc richie will want to come back with jon and re negotiate...
maybe they didnt fight over money but sooner or later doc will realise richie is a goldmine next to jon, and richie will admit he needs the bj machine even if it is only a way to promote his side solo projects.
richie made a wrong choise imo and probably is desperate to go to someone like doc, i m sure he wasnt the first choise.

When Richie left BJ he lost some fans but not his friendship with other musicians and people working in the music industry because such people don't take sides like kids at school. One year ago Richie played with one of the bands managed by Doc McGhee (post #47):

he & Ori have been meeting Desmond Child at various charity events, they've been hanging out with Little Steven several times, etc.

Or maybe Doc convinced Richie to leave CTK Management (newcomers in the business) for him, a veteran and an old friend whose network can do better than rookies to further his solo career. Jon too signed up with a successful veteran last year to re-invent the band without Richie.

I don't think so. I remember a backstage vid from the Lost Highway tour where the band came off stage and there was Doc backstage and he and Jon hugged like old buddies (that they are). And in Behind The Music Jon admits that Doc did everything he promised and made them the biggest band in the world.
So all that bad blood that might have been there after Jon fired him is gone, I guess.

I think Doc really might help Richie to get his stuff together.

THIS is a smart move on Richie's part I think. Interesting to see where it all goes from here but I'm looking forward to it.

I agree. He's been doing things in such a seemingly haphazard way for the past couple of years that I think Doc can make him get his act together, get focused, and actually get a product out there and promote it. VERY smart move on his part. He might actually have some success with Doc behind him cracking the whip.

Actually, if he "went back to his roots" there would be pandemonium over his gray hair too.

Do you mean that the ones who don't give a damn about his ass would then be commenting upon his gray hair?! I don't think so. After all, nobody ever commented about his gray/white/salt'n'pepper beard last year.

She didn't mention "studio" this time so hopefully she means artwork & liner notes as one commenter wrote.
