You're the only one who has been aggressive. You're the one who always assumes I am being aggressive when I am not. You are the one with the problem. I made a joke--with a laughing face. It was a throw away line and you tried to give a dissertation to "prove" that no one would care if Richie had gray hair which very questionable if you know anything about the atmosphere of this board and the obsession with hair around here. So, I think you DO have a problem with basic language skills when YOU can't understand when someone else is NOT being aggressive. I'm STILL not being aggressive but you probably think I am. I'm simply trying to explain to you the obsession with hair on this board for the past 15 years.

But don't worry, as long as Richie is banging someone young enough to be his daughter, I doubt he'll go all natural. He does have an image to keep up. It was all a hypothetical to start with.

Seriously? RICHIE has an image to keep up??

Surely you jest, considering the entire Jovi Myth is all about having "an image to keep up".

If anyone knows how gray Richie is, it would probably be the person he's "banging", wouldn't you think? And I'm not sure what age has to do with that - other than providing an opening to use Richie, once again, to deflect criticism of Jon - in this case, his gray hair and less toned physique, both of which are part of the natural course of aging, as far as I'm concerned. And highly preferable to the alternative.

Tilting at windmills, friend.

This excerpt from Lonn Friend's 2006 book "Life on Planet Rock" is interesting now that Doc is Richie's new manager.

"Band manager Doc McGhee parted ways with Bon Jovi in late '91. Jon and Doc no longer saw eye to eye on where the leader of his band was going. Richie, however, still felt close to Doc and trusted him for career guidance. He fought for a brief while to keep him on as his private personal manager, but Jon nixed the idea, feeling it was important that the band remain on the same path, in unison, as they cleaned house and started anew in the spring of '92."

I'm pretty sure it was shown in the documentary When We Were Beautiful. Or maybe Inside Out? It was definitely from a DVD.

Someone remind me that Richie fans can't take a simple innocent joke... Good Lord....

I'm not deflecting anything, Jackie. Lest you forget, I'm one of the few people around here who does NOT have an issue with Jon's gray hair. I think he looks quite handsome (Silver Fox, as some say) and it makes his blue eyes stand out even more. I'm gray as a goose naturally, myself and I'm only 40!

And I'm sure as hell not going to body shame *anyone* given what I've gone through in my life and what I deal with with with kids with emotional problems who think they have to look like an air brushed model or a Kardashian and be perfect to fit in. I won't even read the latest thread on "Jon's Beer Gut" about his "less toned physique" because I'm sure it's full of stupidity. Anyone who thinks someone who's a size small who gains 10 pounds is suddenly "fat" needs to have their head examined. I'm not even dealing with it this time around. That's why we have a team.

When (if) you decide to make a simple innocent joke about Richie, let me know. I'll mark it in red on my calendar. And I think you'll find "Richie fans" will appreciate it as much as anybody.

For example, I had no problem seeing the humor in your comment about his gray roots, although you had to take OJ's comment about Richie hiring Doc completely out of context in order to point out - in a humorous way, of course - that Jon isn't the only one who's going gray.

But as long as the only jokes you make about Richie are thinly disguised jabs, you can probably expect some push back. Because, lest you forget, I find humor at the expense of others distasteful. And before you ask, no, I don't usually respond to comments like that about Jon since, as I've said before, you have probably already addressed it - perhaps because the joke isn't quite as funny when it's Jon they're ragging on.

For the record, I don't have a problem with Jon's gray hair either, and have said as much. I don't have an issue with his body. IMO, he looks great, for a man of any age. And I think it's a shame that people can't even allow the man to relax on a beach without making a big deal over the fact that he doesn't look like he does on stage.

But by the same token, if Richie's happy in a relationship with a consenting adult, I figure it's none of my business how old she is. So while I think it's great that you won't stoop to body shaming, if you could just get that li'l hint of ageism under control...

I recognize that it's my problem; but I just don't understand why people can't seem to resist taking potshots at Jon or Richie.

And since you apparently didn't pick up on the humor in my response, I'll try to be more clear. I actually thought your comment WAS funny - just not for the reason you intended. I found it hilarious that you, of all people, would choose the idea of Richie having "an image to keep up" as the punchline, since Jon has made a career of keeping up his image.

Yeah. Actually laughed right out loud.

And you thought Richie fans couldn't take a joke... )

This is very interesting, I didn't know that when I wrote that Richie could sing "Going Back To My Roots", I thought about McGhee once being the band's manager. Who knows what solo career Richie could have had if he had won the fight back then? Now let's see what the future (with a little help from his old friend) brings him and his 31 year-old steady girlfriend since 1/1/2014.

I couldn't agree more, SuperBrad! That's why I put the word in quotes. I suggest you take it up with Becky since I was quoting her.

(In Becky's defense, though, I don't really think she meant to imply that Ori is a whore. It was more likely the other consenting adult she was 'joking' about.)
