It sounds like a rehearsal... The first ever rehearsal they do with the song, too messed up... OH COME ON, he stops playing mid-song to drink water and let a gap in the sound! And then soloing the hell out of it, you can't even tell what song are you hearing.

He may have the time of his life playing like that, but the result is nothing near great and awesome...

I don't think Richie's ego would let an album with no vocals from him happen.

By the way, the first single (that cover we heard in a preview some days ago, can't remember the title) had some lead vocals from Richie. So I'm confident that we won't be disappointed!
