Even if the band is drifting towards smaller venues like the recent promotioal shows due to regressing popularity, they will still be amazing as long as we can accept JBJ's vocal limitations.
I wouldn't read too much into the promo show venue sizes.

On the Bounce promo run they played The Shepherds Bush Empire in London which is tiny.

That must be the biggest drop for a #1 album ever.

As with every Bon Jovi album since Bounce, it doesn't speak to the potential or quality of the album. It speaks to Jons or the labels piss poor choices of 2nd singles. I would bet good money had songs like The Distance, Love Me Back to Life, Bounce, I Am, I Want to be Loved, Love's the only Rule, I'm With You, God Bless This Mess been released, the albums wouldn't take such a nosedive. But when your 2nd single is crap like Come on Up to our House and Misunderstood, is it surprising?

There are so many different angles to look at this both positive and negative that you could drive yourself crazy!!!!

Fans are obsessed with these charts as a judgement of ones popularity but I really don't see it like that...

Radio and Record Executives dictate the music industry... All these promotional things that Jon does is great for his core fan-base but outside that box, no one really knows it's even happening... There are songs that I would never even think about listening to but because they are constantly on the radio and get drilled into my head, I end up like them... Without that rotation, no one really stands a chance... I could see Metallic following this same fate as well...

An artist like Jon has so many obstacles to battle:

- I think their main core fan-base is between the ages of 30 to 60 year-olds... If you split that in half, the younger end of that age gap are going to download the album illegally or just stream it and the older end is going to buy it... You are not going to get a lot of i-tune type downloads... Which really explains the physical album sales...

- Another factor is, a 55 year old gray haired rock star will not attract any new fans under the age of 30... I applaud Jon for being true but at that same time he's always been an image band so part of me is surprised that is taking that image... I'm looking at the Scars video and his face looks 38 so he could still pull off a younger look... But I get it, he's tired... It's just not going to help him...

- 3, Rock and Roll is dead... This is another shocker to me in general... I feel that today's modern radio isn't doing it for many people anyone and they are looking to put some rock and roll back in the mix... Maybe everything's been done... I don't know...

- 5, The music industry is just a complete mess all together.... From The Internet to these Music Competition Shows, to the way they Track Album Sales... It's just a giant mess that is imploding upon us...

So based on the above, Jon really doesn't stand a chance but has still managed to pull out somewhat impressive numbers... If you look at Lady GaGa's numbers or other modern artists like Ed Sheridan, Jon is right there with them... It's his core fan-base that's doing it... but he's still doing it...

Considering that there are some great artists that can't even chart or sell out an amphitheater, you gotta give Jon some credit... But on the flip side, there is a decline... This is a glass half empty / half full situation...

Dan I may have missed it but when was Come On Up To Our House confirmed as the 2nd single released to radio? I think a strong single begets single sales vs much of a bump in full album sales. The overall decline in album sales prove folks just aren't buying full albums anymore apart from the band/artist fan base.

I agree with you. In these days the record sales don't mean nothing, if you think that the top US 2016 album is Drake "Views" (3.5 million of those only 850,000 are physical sales). The lack of THINFS on Spotify for the first 2 weeks of release was self-defeating

In a recent article on Billboard, the writer made a point that both Bon Jovi and Lada Gaga album sales may have been dramatically affected by their support of Clinton.
The fall of Lady Gaga is not so dramatic. She released the album on October 21 getting the number 1. She is now in position 21.

Lady Gaga - Joanne Album - Top Billboard 200

1º week (Oct. 21 to Oct. 28 ) --- Top 1 (201K)
2º week (Oct. 28 to Nov. 4) --- Top 5 (61K)
3º week (Nov. 4 to Nov. 11) --- Top 11 (?)
4º week (Nov. 11 to Nov. 18 ) -- Top 21 (?)

Bon Jovi - This House Is Not For Sale Album - Top Billboard 200

1º week (Nov. 4 to Nov. 11) --- Top 1 (129K)
2º week (Nov. 11 to Nov. 18 ) --Top 43 (10K)

I do not think it's just about the election. The album is not working.

The Album marketing strategy is regrettable. What happened with promotion of the album?, Jon just should be moves his ass to make visits to other countries in the key weeks. No Spotify when the album comes out?. The videos are still not on youtube, and should have been released the same day the album came out. His last promotional concert on Broadway was two weeks before the release of the album. This is a disaster. And tidal has the scoop of the videos but is not playing in its favor either.
