Metalica's 2016 album did significantly better in sales than THINFS, and didn't drop off the charts 1 week later. It sold 291,000 copies first week, but still went on to sell 4 million albums - which is definitely nowhere near the case for Bon Jovi - they didn't even get to a quarter of that.

Oh totally can’t argue that but they had the benefit of time and being missed that helped. If Bon Jovi wasn’t releasing new material at 2 years a clip, I think the sales would be similar even if it was the exact same stuff as we are getting now.

I'd agree. If THINFS was the first album released since Lost Highway, I think, with the proper promotion, it could've done quite well. And if that album contained songs that were crafted over several years instead of several weeks... we'd probably still see Richie in the band, have a good album, and maybe have a healthier band altogether. Jeez the band should've taken a very long break, at least after 2011.

I do agree with you. Not sure Richie still wouldn’t have had an itch to do something on his own but maybe he could have fed that urge with the longer break. But...we will never know.
