Me either, but then I enjoyed and still enjoy quite a few songs from What About Now. But this already feels more like a proper band album.

This is as mid tempo as Satellite or Who would you die for. This isn't a ballad.

Jon supposedly said it at the Austin fan club trip. But what he considers ballads and what we do (and it's pretty subjective) is way different. I don't hear ballad in this song but we haven't heard the chorus/hook yet.
