If anyone thinks that they need to face reality, Bon Jovi doesn't have a single album like that.

I believe, in his speech he stated that he wrote it as a gift for the students...

Ah ok.
Well, if it wasnt for that it could very well fit the whole situation yeah.
But maybe a song its not always about only one thing, it has many interpretations, so...
I just think it fits TOO much.

Yeah, me too. That's why I was asking, if anybody saw it in the same light as me, especially considering that it made the album, and Jon is normally all about only using songs of album-specific writing sessions (with the odd exception here and there, of course ).

Maybe he also thought it fit the whole Richie situation (too) well, and decided to include it for that reason. I guess we'll never know

Jon stated that we are going to like the album version of Reunion... My guess is that he is referring to it with production behind it. This could be the IML acoustic version to the Studio rocking one...

The first performance he did of that song in front of the college students was very raw vocally. The Bahama version was much smoother, including the 'love your life' part.

Personally, I'm not a fan of this song at all... I'll wait for the final version to judge it but it just reminds me of what Working Man was... Just one of those songs with no real chorus, not catchy, no hooks...

Oh, the chorus melody is quite catchy actually, just not in the way THINFS or typical catchy Bon Jovi songs are. But it sticks in your head

Still, I agree about waiting for the album version, though I cannot see how they would make it all different, because it's a got a very specific rhythm to it. However, Last Man Standing comes to mind, which was quite different on the album as well...

Another thread, especially about this song, was started right after Jon first performed it at the graduation ceremony. There are several posts from people who thought, even then, that Jon could have been thinking about Richie when he wrote it. I specifically remember that even Becky and I agreed that it might be a possibility.

FYI, there were also several attempts at the lyrics in the thread, too.

Wow, I didn't realize they'd created something so artistically monumental -- take that, Beyonce!
