I've got it on again and I find it hard to listen to it.

It could be a grower but I definitely won't listen until the album, unfortunately.
Agree with the guitar! We really haven't had more guitar since TD, well maybe HAND. I don't know why Jon doesn't make use of it! More powerful vocals, not going to happen...

Utter sh!t. Nearly switched off half way through.

Jon's talked about this record being "pointed" and a "chip on my shoulder" type record. All I'm hearing so far is the "I'm gonna stand up to everyone - it's me against the world". That's not really pointed in terms of what I was hoping for - it's just a rehash of the last 15 years.

The great thing about Keep The Faith, These Days and Destination Anywhere was that they showed vulnerability and genuine human emotion. The great thing about the early albums and arguably Crush was that they were big fun songs.

The two songs from THINFS so far have neither of these characteristics.

King of the mountain is great song! however childish it might be, it is very nice!

If this one was played by the band as they were around 1985, it would also have been good.

The vocals I can accept, that this is the best they can be. But the production? Why so bad?

Note however that this is probably not the best sound quality - we might get it differently sounding. Or even it could be an earlier cut of the song (e.g. without solo). So let's wait a bit.

This! The guitar is almost nonexistent in this track. I like that it sounds fresh but it a few heavy riffs here and there wouldn't have hurt, would they?

Now that's a good question!

This is pretty much spot on. I don't see any emotion in any of those two songs, there's not even real anger in Knockout.

I also don't get where people get the idea that this sounds fresh. I also listen to a lot of contemporary music and in comparison to most of that this sounds like an aged singer who is trying to sound modern by using a faster drumbeat and an overload of synthesizers.
Don't get me wrong - there were some real genuine moments on BB and there might be some on this album, but so far it's just embarassing.

On third listen of knockout, I really like it. It's not the rock song I envisioned when imagining it but it doesn't matter at this stage, it's catchy as hell which every album has some catchy little substance song in it. Maybe the live version will have more prominent guitars in it because where I stand, that's all that's missing from this.

I just wish they would realize that just because they are trying to replicate that imagine dragons one republic type of sound, it doesn't mean they need to replicate that production of putting the guitars back in the production as a layer of melody and not have it more front and center like a rock song should. There's a great rock song in there somewhere hidden behind the production of this song....

I wish that this was truth. The sound of the song is too thin, too weak...really, really weird. If it is the finished song...Man, Shanks overcame this time. Will be the worst production of a song in Bon Jovi's history in my opinion. Hope the others 14 songs sound better than this one.

This production is miles better than the tinny, highly compressed crap that was WAN. I'm not defending this wall of sound but I much prefer it to WAN.
