But you're talking about WAN hole album or WAN the song?

If is about the song, for me this is still worst. WAN is a bad song, but it's finished, the song is what it is. Knockout sounds like it's the first cut, like it's missing something. Really weird. The song has potential, but it's not explored. What a pity.

If is about the album, the production of WAN is bad. Hope that's is not the same for THINFS.

I agree with this statement. I think that in the 2 new songs Jon tried to genuinely humanly express himself. But . . . fell into the trap of his cliched past. He has been so used to imitating his own caricature, that it is hard to find originality again. And the fact that his singing is not coming out easily and naturally anymore is not helping this, at all.

Nevertheless, it is a good attempt. It is an attempt to get a bit out of their comfort box. Anyway the musical styles in which they have been comfortable lately are so few, that this comfort box is getting so thin, that it is not comfortable anymore.

I welcome every new element. Just make a better production pls.

Sorry, I was referring to the whole album. This sounds a bit warmer. Not great but warmer.

Very throwaway pop. Should probably have been the first single to hook people in but to be honest this ones getting boring quickly, even through the first listen for me. Still think there's a decent song in there if it had some guitars and some decent vocals. The very first vocals from Jon sound like a female singing.

Not bad. I don't hate. It's different, which was my criticism about THINFS and for that I give them credit. I kind of like the sound and the melody. My real problem is with the tired lyrics/theme. I don't feel it and for that reason I doubt it will grow on me. In the past, Jon's vocals and creativity and Richie's guitar work could have carried a song like this but since those have passed I'm not buying it.
And dammit why didn't they go into a solo right before the last chorus? They tease it perfectly.

At least better than This House Is Not For Sale.
Vocals from the 80s/90s-Jon and guitars in the mix and the song would hit it off.

Can't quite see why it doesn't come along so well around here since it's pretty much in the vein of We Don't Run.

Knockout is 80s + 2010s BJ gone a bit wrong. And judging by the structure, it's obviously more power pop (imagine Imagine Dragons except with a bit more edge). On the plus side, while it's mix leaves a lot (understatement) to be desired, it's probably designed to be played live.

Also, for me, it's the closest to their 80s stuff.
