I played around with the THINFS song a bit today and tried to isolate the vocals.

Well, there's one thing I respect John Shanks a lot for: he's a magician in regards to Jon's voice. Of course they are heavily doctored and autotuned, but it's very well hidden in the verses, as it was in most parts of BB (the album). He sounds actually quite natural and fresh. The interesting thing is that this hiding is far less in the chorus, and also the volume is lower. In combination with the backing vocals, which are really high in the mix as some already mentioned, it is obvious that they use backing vocals to do some cover-up. The "Coming home" part of course (not at the end) sound robotic as it gets.

But even John Shanks isn't infallible: I noticed a little mistake! It's hearable in the full version, too, but a lot more obvious in the kind-of "a capella": around 3:13 there's a little sound-blob in Jon's voice, which seems like it's been forgotten before getting the track out to distribution. I wonder if they are going to notice it before the album release, but hell, either I have some very sharp and detailed listening or the Island Records people didn't bother to actually listen to it

Now that you mentioned it, they might want to correct it.

I just used Audacity. And I'm far from being a professional sound-editing wise, but I'm trying to upload it somewhere and share the link later.
