It could represent the whole album or none of it.
I'm not suggesting anyone shouldn't hope or want something fresh or original.
I'm pointing out that Bon Jovi are known for this style of song. On EVERY album there are songs such as this. They may differ in production but they are there.
I prefer heavier songs, decent guitar solos, emotive lyrics. But this is Bon Jovi. And you get a mixture. Some songs are throwaway, some have dubious lyrics. It's always been that way.
Maybe the difference is the balance. On previous albums, especially NJ, KTF, TD, the ratio was more in favour of songs with depth, heartfelt lyrics, powerful delivery. But there were still some filler songs with lazy lyrics. (NJ & TD perhaps the exception)
Let's not kid ourselves otherwise.

I basically meant to say that with each time they do the same stuff, I, as a fan, enjoy it less and less.
Given that Richie departed and how half of BB sounded, I felt it was reasonable to expect something different. So that added to the disappointment.
But your points are good, I guess it simply comes down to expectations, which were higher than last time on my behalf.
