One thing before i forgot, i read the Living With The Ghost song..If this IS about Richie how sad their relationship was between Jon and Richie..
i love the lyric

"go tell your shadows that i got out alive"

he's like telling Richie..hey man i am alive and i am survived !

It's a knockout there i think !Love them
Yeah. I know that everyone is going to have their opinion whether good, bad, or indifferent yet I really don't see how anyone can complain about this album.
I have enjoyed every album in some capacity in the 21st Century yet on this overall release, despite Richie's abscence as well as doubt on this board about Jon's songwriting/vocal range abilities moving forward,
this collection of music has personally taken me to the next level as a fan.

I agree. As I said before, I didn't knew what to expect about this band anymore. Though there're some songs I love even from WAN (Into The Echo, Room At The End of The World, Pictures of You), I didn't though they could make a record that I'd love at the first listen. But this bunch of songs is a very solid one and shows me that Jon can write great lyrics when he wants and it's willing to forget the New Jersey middle-low class.

Also, this record has soul. This songs have a meaning. I mean, we changed

"Never give up
Never give up, Never
Never give up
Never let up, Ever
Never give in
You're an army of one"

or

"They're running numbers out of the Spanish grocery
And Mary Mary says her rosery
Get a ladder, there's a cat up in a tree
The Pretzel man's wearing Gucci glasses
A widow spreads her lovers ashes
I'll hold on to you, hold on to me, yeah
We'll do it, we'll do it, if we're lucky then we'll do it again"

for one of the best written lyrics from this band maybe since These Days.

Right on!!
Brilliantly worded.
I would of been hi-octane Jovi fan even if The Circle and beyond was all I had to choose from.

New Year's Day has grown on me. I thought it was standard at first, but now I find myself really getting into it. After 24 hours listening to the whole thing, I'd rate the songs as follow...

01. Roller Coaster
02. Living With a Ghost
03. Born Again Tomorrow
04. Devil's in the Temple
05. Knockout
06. Goodnight New York

07. New Year's Day
08. This House is Not for Sale
09. Real Love
10. I Will Drive You Home
11. Reunion
12. Labor of Love
13. God Bless this Mess
14. All Hail the King

15. Come on Up to Our House
16. Scars on this Guitar

The same has happened to me! I thought it was an average song but I can't stop listening to it.

I love these songs which I put on my post. I love to play Ride Cowboy Ride and Diamond Ride on guitar.
But for typical listener they can be boring. They don't have catchy hooks like typical radio friendly single. Their power is athmosphere. For me these songa made album special but I wouldn't choose them for a single to promote cd.

Agree i think Scars should be treated very elegant since the songs is beautiful crafted yet the awkward thing was the sing along background at the end of the song..weird but love the song though..honestly it'd be A blast if someone fill it in as a backing voice..You know what i mean hehe..

Do you think he silently sing this song wonder if he was the one who sang the backing vocal? - just curious hahaha

Which is a testament to this album and regained trust in JBJ's songwriting abilities.

My current ranking of THINFS.
1. Goodnight, New York.
2. Labor of Love
3. Living With the Ghost
4. Knockout
5. New Year's Day
6. Rollercoaster
7. We Don't Run
8. Devils in the Temple
9. THINFS
10. I Will Drive You Home
11. All Hail the King
*12. Born Again Tomorrow
*13. Reunion
*14. Scars of This Guitar
*15. Real Love
16. God Bless This Mess
17. Come On Up to Our House
* Bonkers that these tracks are ranked this low. It's certainly not because they are fillers.
