2016 modern rock for me is Alter Bridge. Listen to their new album. They mix old with new- lots of guitars, deep lyrics - emotional songwriting
The new Alter Bridge album is definitely not modern rock. I'm a massive fan of AB but it's verging on metal, not modern rock.

It's very similar to Tremonti's solo albums in terms of music.

I have held out to listen to the new Bon Jovi album so I can't comment too much but I did go to London and was very surprised with it.

Yeah, we all want a cracking solo here and there but can I live without it? Of course! That doesn't make a good song. I can name many songs that I and the fanbase love that haven't got much of a solo.

What I do like is passion. To me, JBJ has got that back. He may not be able to belt out songs like he used too but so what? Destination Anywhere is a quality album but he hardly belts out songs. He shown some passion and the fan base (majority) seem to love it.

People need to realize that Bon Jovi have completely changed. Stop comparing albums to 80s and 90s. That stopped in 2000 when Crush was released. So why are people still comparing stuff 16 years later? Too many fans living in the past...

We need a good album and it seems that the majority of people like it.

It annoys me that people can't listen to a new Bon Jovi song without comparing it to something in the past. This album isn't trying to chase the typical 'Live My Life' or 'Politics' trend. It's come from something inside Jon that he has let out.

If you don't like it, fine, but stop comparing it to albums from 80s and 90s. Long gone...

You are the only one in this discussion that's trying to disqualify another one's opinion. Not justified? Why? please elaborate. Why you come across so aggressive. You seem to have a problem with different opinions. I always said I respect others opinions - I would never say "i hate THINFS and your arguments are invalid". THis would be childish.. but that's what you trying to do it seems. How about an adult discussion

The point I was making was they are mainly ignored in the rock press. They were all over Kerrang, Raw, Metal Hammer etc during the late 80's, early to mid 90's as they still knew how to write a cracking ROCK song despite moving away from their (questionable) hair metal tag.

The Devil's In The Temple is the sort of modern rock song that harks back to that genre. (riffs, grittier vocals) But one song is not enough to wet the appetite of fans who still listen to guitar driven rock bands, be them new or old.

It's a huge market to ignore/ be ignored by.

Another spot on comment. I remember getting Kerrang in 1995 with the headline "The best Rock album of 1995" regarding TD. The hair metal thing ain't questionable. It got them their status. This was an era. The looks were funny looking at it from now. But It is laughable from Jon to deny that they were a huge part of this era

A message of reason.
Or like taking someone to numerous good-time fiestas and they're unable to enjoy it because they simply can't adapt or see the positive in front of them.

As I said he surely changed but not for the better. He has this repuatation as a great frontman. But his recent performances are just poor. No voice no moving around nothing. And don't tell me this is down to age and you don't love him standing motionless like a wax figure in front of his mic stand.....

Hardwired... Lets move on at this point... We got it. You don't like the album because to you it sounds like the same ol. Many fans here don't agree nore do I agree with your points however if you don't like it, you don't like it... cool...

What is it then? I don't think he's lazy!

The man has had countless operations and can't sing half as good as he used too. So mentally, he's probably staying at the mic because he knows he can't sing and move.

Again, I went to the London show and in an intimate venue like that, it didn't bother me that he didn't move.

Big arena/stadium, yeah it probably will.

When did Jon deny that ?
Regarding how worried you seem to be about press' opinion about THINFS, it will be poorly judged as any other Jovi album no matter their quality, because you know, they're Bon Jovi.

Totally fine with it - but stop your "my posts are valid - yours are not " attitude. It would help a lot. Enjoy THINFS.

In numerous interviews he came across as being ashamed having been part of this era. Why?
