To answer your first question, not really (according to charts), but that's mostly due to Always still dominating radio in 1995 and plus, nobody ever gives a damn about a second single from a greatest hits record!

This Ain't A Love Song did OK, but it was a bit redundant after Always in 1994 and Bed Of Roses in 1993; both huge songs. So after that, TAALS was a some diminishing returns. And I definitely feel Saturday Night would've went over better, especially in US. But that of course is speculation...

This is exactly how I remember it too... Saturday Night tanked and Love Song was modest... Too many love songs in a row... I think Something For The Pain would have made a better first single with Love Song to follow...

You missed the point. It's not over dramatized. It is obvious to those who are not living in lala land that Jon is practically in pain and is definitely putting forth his best effort. That was part of what drove the 4 promo shows.

You can go on all day and night about Bruce, but it doesn't change that Jon has different challenges. You are being willfully dense as to the reality that people are not physically equal. Bruce may be able to run a marathon and barely be fatigued, whereas Jon may be in agony every step of the way. It's pretty apparent to me, as well as far more logical, that this is exactly what is happening.

Saturday Night tanked because it was never given a proper chance to be a hit (due to the reasons I outlined), but it has much stronger hook and punchier lyrics that Something For The Pain; which is why I agree with Jon's regret. Saturday Night was IML before IML, lyrically.

Let "the loser" hang himself. Any flaming out of either one of you will be handled the same way. No name-calling . No flame wars.

We've been enjoying the board the last few months without individuals monopolizing it by repeatedly shoving their opinions down everyone's throat. We like you much better when you aren't trying to wage a war, regardless of which side you take. There is no war to be had. Flamers and trolls will be removed. Otherwise, everyone has the right to their opinion, even if it is based on a fallacious foundation.

His post count would be a lot lower if you'd just roll your eyes and ignore from the outset. It's the aggressive confrontation that fuels threads no one is interested in reading

The music scene was much different in the 90's and an upbeat song like Sat Night never had the chance even if it was given the chance... The fact that Jon had two hits (BOR and Always - ITA was modest) was a complete fluke... KTF the song tanked - It only charted as high as it did because it was the first band single after NJ... They tried again with Good Guys and that never caught on...

Sat Night was the follow-up after Always and it got a video and single cd just like Love Song did... It could have gotten a little more attention if it was the first single to the new album but I'm almost certain it would have suffered the same fate...

Today Jon answered a few questions on the iHeart twitter account and it's ironically that he just gave this answer:
Phil Perkin @PPerkin
#iHeartBonJovi which song left off an album do you now wish you'd included and why?

I wish Someday I'll Be Saturday Night had been the first single on These Days instead of the second single on Cross Road -jbj #iHeartBonJovi

Why do you think we were discussing this subject in the middle of a new album thread?
