Right on. Now I agree with some of this. The overall total package of bands these days is pretty nonexistent. They do lack a certain charismatic factor. Luke Spiller from The Struts is the exception though. He's the real deal in my book.
You have to remember that bands in the 60's, 70's, & 80's had the ability to be more original simply due to not having as much music in their genre and beyond they could end up sounding similar to.
Naturally bands now are going to sound like somome else. Rival Sons has more of a Zeppelin sound to me yet they do it way better than Whitesnake and copycats from the 80's who I actually dig as well.

Whitesnake were a Zep RIp off? Isn't that a bit far fetched - only one song tries to emulate Zep and that's "Still Of The Night". THe older WS albums are more mellow and kinda pub blues rock.
