It might not be that crazy. They had something to promote right after to keep the train going when the sales slowed down for quite a while now.

Crush had One Wild Night
Bounce had This Left Feels Right
HAND had Lost Highway (Not really the same but HAND was Sept of 2005 and LH was June of 2007 which is surprisingly not that long of a time between)
Lost Highway tour ends in 2008 and we have the documentary in 2009
The Circle the following year and the Greatest Hits the year right after.

Looking at it like that it really is release after release after release. That's not even including Inside Out, The box set and the New Jersey re-release. If they're ready to move on from the new album I'd love to see an E.P. with a few risks taken.

Do we really want to hear the original version of New Years Day? If it wasn't good enough for David and Tico, I doubt it's a particularly good song.

Do EPs have bonus tracks? I'd love a live recording of Whole Lotta Leaving. It's been a while since I've heard that rarity.

Or even better could be a separate single with Sleep When I'm Dead (Live 2017) as a b-side!
