The guitar work gave me a country vibe, and I liked! Jon's sounds very good (but I think this is a little doctored).

Jon saying he is now a better writer then he was when writing Bad Name is just a lie.

'I got my Girl cause she believes in me' is not fitting for a 60-year-old man.

Or 'we were crashing cars'

Tbh: Taylor Swift who is so big and 'mainstream' has got lyrics on her album that are like fine poetry + they are catchy and complex.

She is in a totally different league compared to Jon
Ok, so now this board has gotten to the point where we are comparing Taylor Swift to Jon.

Got it.

Just “wow”

I love this snippet….

Jon from the HAND era used a time Machine to go in the future in 2023 and he recorded this song.

This one has fine potential

On first thought, it's like If That's What It Takes combined with Summertime melody wise

Wow again
This album is going to be something else. I don’t remember having been this eager to get to hear the whole album since I don’t know when.
His voice sounds better than I ever anticipated. Catchy chorus. Classic Jovi. Cool lyrics.
This whole deal just keeps on getting better every day.

I’m really digging that snippet of Waves! Remember this song catch my attention in the promo, and if the verses are equally as good as the chorus is then this will be my favorite off the album by a mile. Jon sounds great as well and love the little guitar “plinging” in the background

I saw Taylor Swift last weekend. What a great songwriter and a marvelous singer she is. I have no argue about that. (I almost made it to the front row!)

But when it comes to Jon’s lyrics being terrible I have to disagree. The way I see it, the new album’s lyrics are more mature than on any album post 2000. Or probably ever.

I am ten years younger than Jon and these are the kind of lyrics I can relate to. It has always been Jon’s incredible talent to write songs you can make your own. There’s a lot of wisdom and life experience in his words. Songs about joy, songs about not having to prove anything any longer.

Regarding the lyrical content of Waves. The song’s message, at least if you ask me (and having heard only a small part of the lyrics) is to let the past go and move on. Just to be happy where you are in your life at the moment, not letting your mistakes in the past define you as a person, not forever longing for something you once had but subsequently lost. I see a lot of wisdom in that. I wish someone had taught that to me decades ago.

And the line you mentioned, ‘that brown eyed girl still believes in me’… I think that is so cool. I mean, if you’re 62 years old and your high school sweetheart still loves you, you are a very lucky man. What more could you wish for?

Actually pushes his voice here, which means it will probably never be played live.

That is the thing. If you are Happy about your wife of 35 years loves you, then the lyric is bland.

And letting go of someone IS hard. But 'holding onto.memories and then letting her go and vanish not complex - as Love usually IS.

And again, it IS very self centered. Jon says he regrets hardly anything but never does He seem to include the Other Person's feelings.

And Jon has been about: live your life, No regrets...since IML.

Thinking about it when saying LWTG IS about Richie and the Line 'letting your scars guiding my way' is another very selfish thing to write
