Default Waves

Anyone else listening to Waves on a daily basis? I just love this song so much. I think it deserves an official video, besides Living Proof.

I listened to it A LOT from release date to probably just before Christmas. Not so much recently but that's only due to Myles Kennedy and Tremonti having albums out recently.

I still consider it one of their best songs. I absolutely love it.

It's a fantastic song and clearly shows that Jon can still write. Just wish it was recorded when Jon's voice was still amazing not that he even sounds that bad on it, I just think better vocals would make it a Top Jovi song

Didn't listen to it early on 'cause it hit too close to home. I like the song, it's good, but held back by the vocals, like almost all in the last 15 years or so. He doesn't sound too bad on it, but it starts, there's this crescendo, you start to wonder "where is it going?" and by the time the chorus comes, it doesn't really elevate anymore 'cause the vocals can't take it there.
90s Jovi would've made this some ****in' epic piece I think

My biggest gripe is the intro. It sounds like it's going to break into a fairly rocky song and it just doesn't.
One of the lads I work with said the same thing when I had it on. He said "this song sounds like it's going to go into something great but just goes flat" and unfortunately, he's right.
Having said that, the intro aside, I do love it.

It's their best richieless song for me. Genuinely loved it and wished Jon had the pipes to pull it off live one day.

Aloha !

Waves is "inspired" by White Horse.

You can sing the chorus of Waves all over this chorus, and the build up and instrumentation is rather similar as well.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I think it’s one of their greatest post TD songs. Very beautiful and genuine, classic Bon Jovi.

Haven’t been listening to it that much, though. I tend to skip it because for some reason, I think it’s so melancholic and sad that it’s actually painful to hear it. Definitely one of their saddest songs ever, right there with August 7 (even if that DA song deals with something much more sinister).

Many of their songs obviously have sadder lyrics than Waves but there’s something about it that I find almost intolerable.

This sums it up for me. I still enjoy the track.

It's the best post-Richie song for me by far. I wouldn't put it up there because the vocals let it down slightly, as well as the mix. But it's the best new Jovi song we've had in the last 10 years. Maybe the last 15.
